Seonghwa sighs as he walks towards the woods. He always goes to the lake when he feels down, since his mother used to bring him there to play.
It was their secret hideout.
As he approaches the lake, he becomes alert when he hears some sounds coming from that direction. He walks slowly and quietly as he approaches the lake.
'It's just me.'
Seonghwa sighs in relief as he hears a girl's voice. He walks towards the girl who's sitting by the grass in front of the lake.
The girl looks up at him, seeing his sad face, she holds up her beer.
'Want some?'
Seonghwa looks at the beer, and nods. He takes it and takes a large sip.
Jennie hasn't seen the male this eager to drink before.
'You okay?' Jennie asks the male as he sits down next to her.
The raven haired boy sighs.
'Could be better.' Seonghwa says and looks out at the lake.
'Did something happen?' Jennie asks, but the guy just sighs into his hand covering his face.
'It's my mother's death anniversary.'
Jennie looks to the guy, feeling bad for not knowing what she could not have known. She could see the pain in his eyes, she completely understands how he feels.
To lose someone so important.
Jennie is about to comfort the guy, but feels his head resting on her shoulder.
'Just let me stay like this, you don't have to comfort me with words.' Seonghwa says.
Jennie stays still, feeling flustered but trying to hide it. They both look at the sparkly reflections on the stars off the lake.
'I guess you had a really bad day huh?' Jennie says with a less cheeky tone than usual.
'I'm used to having bad days. And aren't you hangover or something? You were so drunk yesterday.' Seonghwa asks, blushing at the thought of their kiss which he knows she probably forgot about.
'I'm alright. How did you get me back? I completely blacked out.' Jennie says.
'I carried your heavy ass back.' Seonghwa says and Jennie looks towards his direction.
'What?! You should've just left me at Jin's.' Jennie says and Seonghwa chuckles.
'I would've been worried if I did.' Seonghwa says and Jennie blushes.
'Yah stop saying stuff like this.'
'What? Am I making your heart flutter?' Seonghwa says teasingly. Jennie just pushes the guy off and he falls on the grass.
'You're annoying.' Jennie says and looks away.
'You're blushing?' Seonghwa says teasingly and leans towards the girl with a cheeky smile.
But then, his cheek is met with Jennie's hand, pushing him away making him falling into the grass again.
'Ah-'
'Don't think I won't be mean just because you're sadder than usual.' Jennie says and smirks.
'I swear one day you're gonna get beheaded.' Seonghwa says and the girl scoffs at the comment.
'I wouldn't mind.' Jennie jokes.
'Wow that wasn't emo.' Seonghwa says and the girl lies down on the grass, with her hand covering her eyes.
'It wasn't a joke. I think I wouldn't mind.'
Seonghwa looks to the girl, and she shrugs as she takes her hand off her eyes, seeing the prince staring at her.
'How can you say that?' Seonghwa says.
'I've thought about death so many times that it doesn't scare me anymore.' Jennie says truthfully as she stares up at the sky.
The prince lays down next to the girl, enjoying the stars high above.
'Is it because you ran into too much trouble?' Seonghwa asks gently.
'Yea. I was nearly beaten to death when Hongjoong's dad found me. I really was prepared to die then.' Jennie says.
She raises her arm, seeing the tattoo on her arm and the scars under it. She wants to reach for the stars and fly away, living reality behind. She wants to escape everything, mostly from her haunted past.
Seonghwa's hand reaches over to hold hers. She looks to him and sees him smiling at their connected hand.
'When you find someone important to you, you'll be scared to die. Not because you're scared from the pain, but from the thought that you'll never see that person again.'
Jennie couldn't help but blush. It feels like a dream to her. Never would have thought she'd fall for someone like the prince. In fact, she hated the royal court. But she couldn't help but fall for his kind and gentle heart.
'Have you found that certain someone then?' Jennie asks dumbly. She doesn't know whether she wants to hear it or not, scared of the feelings she'll experience after.
Seonghwa pulls their hands to place it on his heart. Jennie could feel the fast beating of his organ. Jennie's own heart increases in speed as well as Seonghwa looks to her, their faces only inches apart.
'I'm not sure~' Seonghwa says teasingly and smiles.
Jennie scoffs and flicks his forehead.
'Ah-'
'Let's go, I'm too tired to deal with your annoying ass anymore.'
