When Stephanie was released from the hospital, she only returned home for a few days. William never apologised to her and she didn't speak much. Jaxon was still a little mad at her for lying to the doctors and when he asked her about it she didn't really give an answer. She avoided it, she didn't want to seem scared of William, but it was clear she was. William was smug as if he knew she would lie for him and he wouldn't get charged for this. They didn't speak to each other much and when they did William was aggressive and threatening and that's why she didn't stick around. She packed up some stuff and told Jaxon she was going to visit her mother, but she wasn't sure for how long.
Stephanie asked Jaxon to come with her as she felt guilty for leaving him behind, but he told her he couldn't leave. He couldn't leave Mariana behind. She understood and left and kept in contact with him over text. William had no idea where she had gone and Jaxon acted like he didn't know either and William surprisingly believed him. Either that or he didn't care.
The day of the election was drawing close and the fight between William and Louis' father was fierce. The past couple of days had been the start of the televised debates and they were very tension-filled. The debates always began with a lot of political talks and ended up with them fully arguing with each other and the debate having to be called off. There was always a real feeling of hatred between them when they were in the same room.
Jaxon had spent a lot of time with Mariana and her family, helping them set up this protest. They had spent a couple of weeks promoting it and they had a lot of people on board. There were hundreds of people on board with it and getting ready for the day of William's Downtown speech. Jaxon was glad to see everyone helping with the promise of no violence. There were some areas Downtown that Mariana and Jaxon skipped by when they were promoting the protest. She told him those were rough areas with drugs and extreme violence. They were people who hated the new government more than anyone and if they found out about the protest then it would turn to chaos and people would get hurt which was, of course, what they wished to avoid.
William was of course still mad about Jaxon being with Mariana, but this was the least of his worries now. He ignored Jaxon which he wasn't complaining about. Not that he saw him a lot anyway as he was with Mariana for most days. Her fathers didn't mind him staying over and every time she told them he was staying they came to her room with a condom which made Jaxon laugh and Mariana blush.
The night before William's speech, Jaxon stayed at Mariana's house. There was a sense of excitement from her fathers as they were passionate about what they were protesting about. Lots of people around town are protesting to help them so they can remain a married couple without any complications and so other gay couples could get married without it being such a bad thing for others. Jaxon was happy to be on there, standing by their sides through this. He could sense a slight apprehension from Mariana though.
"Are you going to tell me what's wrong?" Jaxon asked as they brushed their teeth together
She looked up at him from sitting on the side of the bathtub and frowned "What do you mean?" She asked
"You seem a little off? Are you worried or something?" Jaxon asked
"A little bit," Mariana shrugged, putting her toothbrush back and walking off into her bedroom. Jaxon put his toothbrush down and followed her.
"Are you going to tell me why?" Jaxon asked as she climbed into bed
"It's not a big deal, I'm just worried about tomorrow" Mariana answered as she got herself comfortable
"Why?" Jaxon asked sliding into the spot next to her on the bed
"I just don't want it to turn violent" Mariana said
