Izuku's eyes slowly fluttered open, only to be met with the bitter light of the sun beating down on his orbs. Slightly grimacing at the newly found source of light, he sits up while rubbing his eyes. Slowly but surely his body began to ache, which is when memories from earlier began to flood the forefront of his mind.
How could he have been so stupid?
Allowing the two boys to be that close to him. . . it was more than dangerous for Izuku- it was downright terrifying. They would only end up breaking his heart, that's what he had to keep reminding himself.
They would see he's not worth the trouble. . . and they'd leave him. One way or another.
Green eyes drifted across the room until they landed on the desk beside his bed, a bright yellow sticky note with semi messy handwriting sprawled on it sat. Gently lifting it up he examines it, smudges of ink lightly smearing in certain areas.
Reading over the note his heart clenches at the words on it, he wanted so badly to believe that they cared for him. . . more than anything. And Eijirou's note seemed to knock down a few barriers- he didn't know why, but it did.
He could imagine the goofy grin on the red head's face as he wrote it, and the amused eye rolls Katsuki would give him as he did it. And Izuku couldn't help but think. . .
Maybe Uraraka was right.
Muffled ringing soon filled the quiet space of the dorm room, picking up the phone Izuku scans over the ID before answering.
"Hey Todo," Izuku mumbles, his voice sounded exhausted and drained as he spoke. "Everything okay?"
"Yeah but. . ." Todoroki trailed off, heaving a reluctant sigh, "Look I wouldn't be doing this if I had a choice but I'm not going to be here for a few days."
Pinching his eyebrows together Izuku tilts his head to the side. "Why? What happened?" He asked.
"I got the internship at the graphic design company. . . but it's in Syracuse, I hate to leave you like this but this has been my dream since-"
"Shoto." Izuku said softly, promptly cutting his 'older' brother off. "It's okay- really, I'm happy for you. Besides I'll be fine I have Uraraka here to help me and crap. . . don't worry so much about me and just focus on you." He chuckled.
The duel haired college student groaned. "How'd I get so lucky to have you as a brother?"
"Because my mother died." Izuku deadpanned, a sly smile sweeping across his lips.
"Ouch," Todoroki laughed, "Oh, before I forget- make sure to tell Ura to pick up her pills today before seven thirty or else she'll have to wait till next week to get them. I'll be there in a few minutes to get some of my stuff, okay?"
The freckled teen nodded his head, only to soo remember Todoroki couldn't quite see him. "Right- yeah, okay. Bye Sho."
Once the call ended Izuku picked up a pen, pulling down his sleeve to write 'Pick up meds by seven thirty'. Closing the cap he gets up, groaning a small sprouts of pain bloomed in his legs, he reluctantly drags himself to the bathroom to splash water on his face.
His eyes linger over himself in the mirror, traveling over his face and his tattered pajamas. Gently pulling the hem of his shirt over his head he drops it to the floor. Izuku's index finger trailed a large scar that embedded itself into his skin over his rib cage, nestling at the top of his belly button.
