After Him 😢💔

It's been two months since Jacob picked up that guy at the bar and took him home.

Edward.

He tries not to think about him too much, but it's difficult. Edward had made it clear that he was off limits, but still—still, Jacob couldn't resist giving him his number in a last ditch attempt at getting the chance to see him again.

This might come as a surprise, but Jacob doesn't pick up guys all that often. (Or women, for that matter.)

He likes to be wined and dined, make them work for it. That night, he hadn't gone to the bar with the intention of getting laid—far from it. After a shitty day at work, all he'd wanted was to knock back some alcohol, stumble home, and wallow alone in his frustration until he passed out.

But when he'd caught sight of Edward from across the bar—fuck, but all thoughts of watching Notting Hill and eating instant noodles in the dark flew out of his head.

It's hard to describe even now, but he felt a pull towards Edward, an instant and visceral attraction unlike anything else he'd ever felt before. When their eyes met, his heart did something strange inside his chest and his mouth went dry.

He'd clearly come straight from work, dressed in dark slacks and a white button up. His tie hung loosely around his neck, and the top two buttons of his shirt were left unbuttoned, revealing a tantalizing sliver of skin. His hair was mussed as though he'd been running his fingers through it, and even with the bags under his eyes Jacob couldn't help the fact that he found him devastatingly attractive.

When Edward had gotten up and started heading towards him, Jacob almost couldn't believe his luck.

Alright, he'd thought, as Edward drew closer. Here goes nothing.

"Hey," he'd said, turning on the charm. (Or at the very least putting in a valiant effort.)

"Hi," Edward had replied, and by the dazed look in his eyes Jacob could tell he was already at least a little drunk.

Nevertheless, this was an opportunity he found himself unable to pass up. There was something about this man that was different, and he wasn't about to let him go without even trying.

"Can I buy you a drink?" Jacob had asked, letting an easy smile take over his face as he raked his eyes down Edward's body suggestively.

"Yes," Edward had replied, and Jacob's smile had only grown.

Edward was surprisingly--well, he was surprisingly interesting. And cute. And a million other things Jacob had never expected from a prospective one-night stand. In fact, he was so distracted by Edward's cute smile and their shared love of border collies that he'd nearly forgot that he'd wanted to climb him like a goddamn tree.

It hadn't taken very long before their knees were knocking together as their feet tangled beneath the table and Jacob was leaning forward on his elbows to get closer to that warmth that seemed to radiate from Edward's being. It hadn't taken very long before Jacob caught himself grinning like he hadn't in a long time, his horrible day long forgotten. It hadn't taken very long before Jacob was wondering if maybe he didn't just want to sleep with Edward, if maybe he wanted to date him too.

But then Edward had looked at him with dark eyes, and Jacob's heart had jumped in his chest.

"Hey," Jacob had said, heart beating a little fast, "you want to get out of here?"

Edward licked his lips, and Jacob felt a bit faint.

"Yes."

Jacob's apartment wasn't far, and they'd stumbled there together, still mostly drunk, the night air cool and sharp around them. Jacob had kept his fingers tangled with Edward's the whole way there (and the fact that that was what made him blush, his heart squeezing inside his chest—suffice it to say, he'd be keeping that to himself).
