Naomi's pov
"Alright, let's take it from the top."
I exhaled as they began singing the chorus again. Kelly and I were part of the school choir team and we'll be presenting a song at the Valedictory Service for outgoing students. The fun part of the event was the duet which everyone was looking foward to. it was always done by two lead singers. Jimmy and Juliana had always taken the lead, and were tagged as couples of the school, but Juliana had changed schools so there was an open spot for a "lucky"girl to fill in, Gosh, Jimmy must real be feel like one star. If not for Kelly i wouldn't have joined the choir. I knew Kelly liked Jimmy even though she tried so hard to hide it and now that Ella and Jimmy were dating,  it would make things very awkward for her.
"Alright everyone settle down." The choir master, Mr. Walter brought out his note book and wrote somethings down.
"You all know we're picking a new female lead for the duet today." He continued.
"So i'll be taking a few names and we can start right up with the auditions."

In no time, a few girls raised their hands and took turns singing and most of them sounded very bad. they just wanted to lead the song, not that they could actually sing and Kelly wasn't even paying attention at all.
"Kelly you no go like lead?" I teased. No reply. Kelly seemed to be lost in her thoughts.
"Babe."I said tapping her shoulder.
"Huh?"
"So you didn't hear anything I said." "No jare, I'm tired."
"Alright, well done."Mr.Walter replied,  cutting the last singer short. he seemed disappointed.
"Is there anyone else who would like to try, before I draw my conclusions?" Then a funny idea crossed my mind. i was sure Kelly was going to kill me for this but as fast as I could I grabbed her hand and raised it up before she could pull it back down, Mr Walter noticed.
"Miss Kelly, alright come up."

Kelly's pov
So Jimmy asked Ella out....."Later they'll soon start kis....Ewww. yuck.

I thought to herself as Naomi tapped my shoulder.
"Babe"
"Huh?"
"So you did not hear anything I said." "No jare, I'm tired."
I couldn't get my mind off Ella and Jimmy, i wondered why Ella always had the attention. Oh well it wasn't time for things like this.
Suddenly, Naomi grabbed my arm up. I looked up in confusion as i saw the music director beckoning me to the stage.
everyone was looking straight at me, i gave Naomi the" you're dead " look but Naomi just grinned back and gave me a thumbs up. Oh my god,  how am i going to sing in front of everyone.
I had only sang in front of my mirror when no one was watching or with my mom, but not in front of a crowd.
"Yound lady, dont waste our time." Mr Walter seemed impatient
As I made my way down to the front, with each step it felt as if I would fall . "Breathe Kelly, breathe." I told myself.  I could hardly keep my legs from shaking. "I'm going to murder Naomi!!" I screamed in my mind, but that was for later, i had to save my neck now.

Oh Lord, help me, what song should I sing. Suddenly, i remembered Nara by Travis Greene. As I started my voice came out very shaky and i was sure I heard a laugh but i closed my eyes; Atleast i won't see the person. I began singing like i was home and as i sang the last line there was a silence, silence...i could feel the tears already forming in my eyes, then suddenly, a loud applause filled the room even the Mr walter was clapping.
"That was absolutely excellent! I think we have our lead singer." He grabbed me into a warm hug.
All i could do was smile, I was so sure i was going to cry later on.
I made my way to my seat trying to calm my nerves.

"Wow you have a lovely voice." I turned around to see Juwon.

Juwon was the assistant head boy, he was also the school's keyboardist.

"Thank you." I smiled back.

"Shey you will not come and train me."He teased, I blushed.

"Hope you're not in a hurry, I want us to score a song before you go."

"No, I'm not." I said, knowing fully well that i had to get home on time because my mom was going to skin me alive if i came late. oh well, it was worth it. I could see Naomi coming down but I gave her the look, Naomi quickly understood and waved me good bye.
Sharp girl...
Wow, i thought to myself, i never imagined me using the look. I began wondering if i looked okay, my uniform? top-notch clean and my breath was ... okay, yup I'm good to go.
After a while people began to leave. Juwon got on the keyboard and started playing again, we rehearsed for hours until it started getting late.
He really seemed cool, he had a lovely smile and i knew deep down I was already liking him, even though i knew it was wrong or was it?

"So do you mind if we rehearse once in a while after school."

"Humm..."

"Don't worry, you can come with your friends."

"Thanks"

"Church girl." He said giving me a silly face
"Ah, ah. what do you mean?" I challenged.
he laughed.

"See dis one sha, it's cool though."He smiled again, it made me cheeks red, i started feeling shy.

"I think I should be heading home, thanks for the rehearsal." Grabbing my bag while avoiding his gaze.

"You're welcome."

I got up, all smiling. I finally caught someone's attention. I knew it was a wrong thought but i liked it, it's not only Ella that has all the attention, i grinned happily.

"Erm Kelly, I was wondering..." I turned as he called me....Ohhhh was he going to ask me out, so early? or maybe he wanted something. Either ways i could feel the butterflies in my tummy as he came closer.

"I was wondering, if.....I could...." he got closer again"...get..

...Ella's number from you."
