Ella's pov
As usual the guys on the street tried getting my attention again as i made my way home. But today, that wasn't important.I was wondering if i made the right move. I had blocked Jimmy on WhatsApp. Because as Naomi said "You do anyhow, you see any how." lol.
But still, maybe i was a little too quick to act. I hoped that mom had would have slept before I got home, because i am so not in the mood for any drama today. But luck was not on my side.
Mom was about to start preparing our usual supper, swallow.
Today it was Egusi soup and garri. Thankfully, dad was home watching football. My dad was such a fan, i never forgot the time dad and I had to pick my brother up from school. He said they should quickly branch a local bar just to "see who dey win".In the mist of the crowd and body odour, dad still jumped in. It was almost like they were choking him, but this man didn't move an inch. We ended up staying for over an hour and picking my brother late. But i never told mother; We said it was traffic.
Well, today's match was between Nigeria and Ghana.
I grabbed his neck from behind the couch hoping to choke slam him, he tapped out, even though i knew he could lift me up with one arm."How was school my dear."
"Sttrreessffull"
"Ehya sorry"
"Oya come and watch with me"
"Alright"
I was making a move for the chair when...
"Amarachi so you are back from school, oya enter this kitchen.", Mom shouted from behind the sofa.
Stubbornly, i walked towards the kitchen but passed it, heading for my room.
"Where are you going to?"
"I want to take off my uniform."
"So since that you came, you did not know you will change, abi?"
I didn't even answer, I walked in to the bedroom. Few minutes after I put on my "home" clothes
My phone rang. i looked at the caller ID ...Jimmy.Kelly's pov
I opened my eyes, lazily. I must have slept off while reading my Bible and it was morning already. Oh no, i was going to be late for school.I quickly packed up my school bag. I was brushing when i remembered, i hadn't done my morning routine.
I quickly mustered "Good morning Jesus" under my breath as fast as I could as i got into the bathroom. Wondering why mom was still asleep by this time; It was unlike her.
Well, maybe she was a bit tired.I did the "military shower". Wash face, wash hand, wash leg, got all dressed up and went to the sitting room for prayers.
As i grabbed the tambourine, i wondered why all the neighbours still had their generators on by this time.
Normally it was only a few of them that put theirs on in the morning. I looked out the window just to make sure i was hearing well. Yes I was.
Even the Benjamin's still had their generator on. I was sure they had tilted it with a stone again. They usually put it on by 6pm, then by 10pm they'll tilt the gen so it could last for another 30minutes . This was their daily routine and everyone knew.
Infact, sometimes neighbours passing by helped them to tilt the gen, when it was approaching 10pm. lol, i grinned to myself at my silly, but true thought.Wait. If their gen was still on, could it be... I looked at the clock above my head.
"Ewooo" I exclaimed, putting my hands on my head. The time was just 5minutes past 10pm, It wasn't morning at all. mtcheww. I hissed as i went back to my room laughing to myself .
"no wonder Mumsi is still sleeping."
As i layed on my bed to rest a bit, my mind drifted off to Jimmy and Ella. I wondered why Jimmy talked to Ella.
I was sure Jimmy didn't know i liked him, It wasn't like i like like Jimmy 'Eww', and Ella wasn't even all that fine sef. If Jimmy had approached me, i would have said no. But still i wanted attention once in a while, it didn't always have to be Ella....huh, why do i sound jealous, Am i?
