Terra Garrison was prepared to spend the 60th Hunger Games as she did every year: attend the reaping, watch the tributes claim their places, and return home with her best friend to pass by the next year.
But, by some twist of events, she volunteers in place of the twelve year old sister of the girl who was supposed to volunteer. And, when her best friend is reaped alongside her, the Games begin and things get interesting. What with the lavish lifestyle of the Capitol, the continuous facade of being a career and, finally, the gore of the arena, Terra is forced to face a version of herself she didn't know existed.
A version of herself who, for what it's worth, she was growing to like.
