Sunsets

Maya went to school with Cole on Thursday morning.

Maya joined her friends after dropping her backpack in Cole's classroom.

"Did your dad grade our tests?" Madison asked.

"He's almost done," Maya said.

"Do you know what you got?" Jack asked.

"No, he won't show me," Maya shrugged. "Plus, he wouldn't even tell me if he graded my test or not."

"What about our essay?" Madison asked.

"He finished grading them," Maya said. "I think he said he'll give it back to us today."

"Oh, thank god," Jack said, slightly relieved. "I hope I did well."

"Yeah, me too," Madison said.

"He said everyone did great on the essays," Maya said. "Except a few."

Jack's smile dropped.

"Oh, god, no," Jack said. "I bet I'm one of those people who did terrible."

"I'm sure you did fine, Jack," Madison smiled.

Maya nodded in agreement.

When the bell rang, Maya, Madison and Jack headed to Cole's classroom and took their seats.

"Alright, guys," Cole said, getting up from his desk.

He took a sip from his coffee and set it back down.

"I graded your guys' essays," Cole said.

Maya heard a few people take in a deep breath.

She glanced at Jack, who tensed up.

"You guys did great, don't worry," Cole said, noticing Jack tense up.

He gave Jack a reassuring smile.

Jack sighed, slightly relieved, but was still tense.

Cole called everyone up to get their essays from him.

"Oh, thank god!" Jack said, relieved.

"How did you do?" Madison asked, leaning towards Jack.

"I got a B minus," Jack said.

"We told you," Madison said, "you did fine."

"I know, but still..." Jack said. "I'm not good with the writing."

"He wrote feedback," Maya pointed out, noticing Cole's writing on the page."

"Oh, right," Jack said.

Maya was one of the last ones to be called.

Maya smiled when she saw the A- on her page.

"How did you do?" Madison asked.

"An A minus," Maya smiled, showing her friends her essay.

"How?" Jack asked, looking at Maya.

She shrugged. "I guess I'm just good at writing."

"Wait, Madison, how did you do?"

"Oh, I got a B," she said.

"That's good," Maya smiled.

"Yeah," Madison agreed, smiling as well.

After the school day ended, Michael picked Maya up from the school and dropped her off at school on his way back home from work.

It was the weekend once again and Maya and her friends had made plans once again to hang out.

Maya, Madison, and Annie made plans to go watch the sunset on the beach on Saturday night.

On their way to the beach, they stopped to get pizza to eat and watch the sunset.

Maya, Madison, and Annie brought blankets and beach towels so they could sit on and wrap themselves in while they're eating pizza and watching pizza.

"Oh, shit, we forgot to get paper plates!" Annie remembered.

"It's fine," Madison assured her as Maya drove to the beach. "We've got tissues and the pizza boxes to set it on if we needed it."

Maya nodded.

They got to the beach and found a good place to set their beach towels on and sit on.

Madison and Annie opened the boxes while Maya got their blankets from the car and joined them.

"I've got a few hoodies in my car if we need it," Maya said.

"A few?" Madison repeated, surprised.

Maya nodded. "Yeah, Michael and I always forget to get our hoodies out of the car."

"I was wondering whose hoodies they belonged too!" Annie said.

Maya smiled. "Oh! I think Ty left his hoodie in my car too. I keep forgetting to give it back to him."

Madison and Annie shared a look.

They looked back at Maya, both of them smiling.

"I swear to god if you say anything about Ty and I, I'll leave you two here," Maya threatened.

"We weren't," Annie lied, smiling.

Maya rolled her eyes and shook her head.

Maya sat down on the beach towels and picked up a slice of pizza.
