Chapter 9

I pulled up in my moms house and let out a breath of relief. I didn't want to go into that house.It had to many memories both good and bad. I put in my sweater trying to cover the bruise Zach left on me. I brought my hand up to knock on the door but I kept having second toughts.

Was it a bad Idea coming here?

I finally knocked and I heard a certain teenage boy talk on the other side of the door.

When joey opened the door he smiled and hugged me

"Kayla" he said soflty before hugging me and not letting go.

" hey Joey" I said tears forming in my eyed. I didn't have to bend down considering he was going threw that awrkward stage in puberty his voice was slightly wierd between squeky and manly.

" I missed you" he said bringing me inside. I wiped a tear and looked around the home. It was different since I left the house is painted a weird beige. And paintings were hung on the walls. Probably coveting where there was marks of what happened.

I followed joey into his room which used to be mine too until I left he didn't hesitate about taking the rest of the space left.

I sat on his bed and looked at him getting his controllers. We used to always play video games together and hide stashes of candy and chocolate under my bed.

I smiled at the memory and grabbed on of the controllers.

" so is mom home yet" I asked him. He looked up confused and sat down in the bed.

" no she said she was staying over there for a while I thought she told you, after the transplant shes been off." He said sitting next to me.

I shrugged and played with him. But couldn't get my mind off of that. I thought what I said was gonna drive her back here.

By the time I was to tired to keep playing I fell asleep on joey and heard someones voice from the door.

"Kayla!" They screamed I shot up falling down on the floor hitting my butt. I looked up to see Blake on the door.

" what do you want! Did you track me down or follow me" I hissed at him pulling him outside for my brother won't hear.

"So you broke up with me threw the phone to come here and move in with some kid" he said angry. I wanted to laugh by his jealousy. And a smile broke loose.

He looked confused and I put a hand on his shoulder.

" that kid is my brother" I said he looked stupid and looked around.

" plus that's not the reason I broke it off I don't want to hurt you I need to keep you as far away from me and my life" I said seriously. He moved closer putting his hands on my face.

" kayla your hurting me by pushing me away please you can trust me" I put his hands away from my face and a flash of hurt flashed threw his eyes and were replaced with anger.

" I'm sorry Blake I really am but this is too serious to risk you being with me please leave" I said barely whispering the last part.

He looked at me with a straight face and nodded.

" that's fine if that'd you feel but let me tell you something when all this is over font except me to be waiting" he said slamming the front door. I wiped a tear from my eye and going to the bathroom. I fadhed my face and screamed when I saw Zach behind me.

" good job princess I knew that you felt the same way about me" he said touching my hair.

" leave me alone I didn't do it for you I never will, understand that" I said pushing him away from me. He slapped me hard making me wince.

He smiled and left without another word.

I heard the door open and got scared Zach was coming back. But looked up to see joey standing there.

"Why didnt you tell us Kay we could of helped you" he said soflty touching my cheek making me wince.

"I was scared and i still am" I said soflty. He texted someone on his phone and ojt me on his bed and went to get an Ice pack.

I fell asleep with my cheek throbbing. And hopped Blake would somehow come back and comfort me.
