The next few days whizzed by with lightening speed, my fight with Logan already seemed so long ago, and for some reason, I was still ignoring Rian.

I was completely sure how I felt about his words anymore. He had told me to pretty much forget about Logan. Logan, my best friend, the one person I knew that I could always count on. Logan, the guy who saved me from embarrassment in eighth grade at our 'Breaking Spring' Dance. Logan, the guy who made me feel better, no matter how bad he felt.

How could I forget about him? How could I throw our friendship in the trash? How could I throw away my security blanket?

I couldn't - I knew that.

I felt like I was thrown onto a game show that I didn't sign up for. Logan sat at one podium and Rian at the other. The announcer counting down with mere seconds left on the clock, the crowd completely silent, awaiting my answer. Who was I going to choose? Who?

Logan?

or Rian?

His behavior was childish, and his attitude wasn't something I always looked forward to - I never did, actually. But, his laugh and the side of him that I had seen several times, had me rethinking.

No, I'm not choosing between the two or my friendship between either one but, if it came down to it, who would I choose? Without any hesitation? Whose name would leave my lips first?

"Marissa?" I snapped my head up and glanced around the seemingly vacant room, until they landed on my dad's figure.

"Mhmm?"

He chuckled, "Daydreaming?"

I nodded sheepishly.

"Well hun, I'm going to need you to go to the Litzburg, Hamilton, and Greywell firm and fetch some paperwork."

I sighed, "That's two hours away.." I said exhaustedly.

"I know, I know. I wouldn't ask you if it wasn't nessacary. I would've had them shipped but, the firm had to correct some of the contracts, and we have run out of time."

"I understand." I agreed reluctantly, I stood up straightening out my shirt.

"And please, take someone with you. I don't want you up there alone, it'll be dark by the time you get there anyway."

"Okay dad." I smiled and kissed him on the cheek.

"I'll be back." I finished as I walked out of the room.

Now, who am I going to take with me?

Logan.

The one person I wouldn't mind spending two hours with.

The phone continued to ring in my ear.

"Three Brothers Pizza, What can I get fo'you today?"

I laughed, "Um, one slice of Logan for a two hour car ride?"

"Ah, I'm sorry we're all out of pepperoni."

I laughed again, as well as Logan.

"So can you?" I asked pleaded.

"I can't Marissa, I'm helping my Uncle with his car. Remember?"

"Ughhhh. You're killing me."

"I'm sorry." He replied sincerely.

"Logan can you hand me that ratchet?"  Logan's Uncle's voice was in the background.

"Yeah," He replied to his Uncle, "Marrisa, I have to go. I'll call you later, kay?"

"Mhmm, bye."

Now I knew who'd have to go with me.

"Can you take the window locks off?"

"No."

"The wind is hurting my ears and I'm cold."

"I don't care." I kept my replies short.

"Well you should." He replied stiffly, while turning towards the window - looking out of it.

"No more talking."

"Isn't that kind of contradicting when you say ' no more talking', and you're talking?"

I focused my gaze back onto the road, the sun had already started to go down, and the wind was becoming a bit chilly without the extra heat. I quickly pressed the switch and held down the 'windows up' button.

Rian turned and opened his mouth to say something sassy, something that would probably result with me throwing him off the upcoming bridge and he'd become a cold case file in a lone sheriff's department.

"If you know what's good for you, you'll stay quiet." I murmured.

A look of shock passed his face, from what I could see from the corner of my eyes, and then he smirked.

What's with this guy and his smirks?

I had finally arrived at the merging firm and I quickly found a parking space near the front entrance.

"Stay here." I commanded to Rian. He didn't respond so, I closed the door and briskly walked into the skyscaper.

"Hi, are you Jenna? My father sent me for the paperwork, and he told me to talk to you."

"That is me," she gave a light laugh and smiled, " just follow me."

I followed Jenna to a door that connected into a larger conference room. On the table, sat the the heaps of files.

"You sure you got them all?" She chuckled.

"Y-yeah..I h-have them." I currently held onto the stack of neverending files that cleared over my head, causing me to keep tight control on them.

I made it out of the building and what I saw, I was not prepared for.

Rian. Took. My. Car.

Short but, hey - Next chapter is awesome. Believe me. :)
