Chapter 9

The next day the news of Joker's disturbance of charity party was on everyone's tongue, that was just the mere beginning of when the people of Gotham began to worry about doing the most trivial things.

Their fear wasn't in any way unjustified, nobody knew who Joker was, but what they knew was that he wasn't Falconi or Maroni. His plan of action was unpredictable, it was unknown whenever by some stupid momentary fantasy he would decide to terrorize the shopping center or blow a school.

What was the motive of his actions? Money was the most usual reason why some implacable of normal living criminals decide to disturb the life of innocent citizens, but Joker was anything, but typical.

The best reasoning for his mercenary actions was making a statement, but what would madman such as him want to prove? It was all whirlwind, chaos for pure chaos something that either any of the detectives or policemen weren't able to understand as well as Sam.

He and Andy tried searching for a conclusion, but there wasn't any theory that made logical sense. The whole Micheal/Joker case was just a disorganized mess, very little information, but a huge influence on Gotham society.

As ridiculous as it sounds the public got divided into the two noteworthy groups: Joker sympathizers and Batman fans/ people with an impeccable sense of justice... Of course, there were also neutrals, but they're not worth mentioning. The first group believed that the clownish man's activity was some anti-political declaration, some anarchistic movement.

People in public began wearing cheap clown masks, that made real Joker people harder to distinguish from normal citizens, they believed that he was their lord, savior. This definitely wasn't his motive, but surely it was a favorable turnover of events for a clown prince of crime.

A few weeks ago nobody would have thought that asshole who robbed the bank would have become a significant public figure, it was quite absurd that some people had the guts to compare someone as harmful as him to the Robin Hood, but here we are right now.

When it comes to the second group, one episode especially got stuck into Sam's head. We're of course talking about the infamous Brian Douglas accident. In shortage, the guy decided to pretend to be Batman, whenever wearing armor made out of hockey pads was a good idea wouldn't be questioned, but it didn't save him from the hands of a Joker.

Our prince made a threat sending the video torturing the poor fellow to the public broadcast channel and if that wasn't enough the man's body was thrown off the top of the presidential building hanging off the noose. Brian's mouth was cut into Glasglow's grin as well as his face was painted in characteristical Joker's way.

As obvious as it is the activity brought a different reaction from the Gotham residents. After the problems with poverty, residential quality, or terror way before Joker, people were looking for a strong figure and now with a wicked sense of mortality they got two, it is just their decision whenever they gonna choose right...

,, Michell-uh they're talking about us on tv!" green-haired man intensively shook me awake, stars filled my vision as I lifted my head reluctantly from the pillow I've been sleeping on a few minutes ago,, C'mon!"

My eyes widened as the man quickly snatched the warm quilt from my body and threw it on the floor,, Hey, what the hell is going on?" I muttered sleepily, without another word he quickly grabbed my hand and pulled me into the direction of the living room.

It was just a wee hour of the morning, the golden lights of rising sun colored our silhouettes dark blue as we wandered sprightly towards the already lit up tv. The Gotham outside of the windows was gently wrapped in a blanket of fog, it was all before all the people and the noise took it over.
