It wasn't too hot, nor was it too cold. Today the weather seemed to be a perfect balance. Everybody went about their normal life, employees worked, and students studied, there was nothing different. Little did we all know our lives would change forever.
"Hey YN!"
I turned around and saw my best friend Briza, her curly brown hair was up in a messy bun. I smiled and called her over. We had a few minutes before the bell rang to signal us to return to period five, the last of the day. God how I couldn't wait to graduate in a few months.
"How are you?" She asked as she leaned against my locker. Her textbooks rested in her arms.
"Same old, my parents left for another trip,"
"Another? Geez do they even plan on seeing you graduate?"
"I hope so, I didn't work my ass off for nothing," I laughed as I gazed into her brown eyes.
My parents were a complicated story. My mother was a model and my father was a business owner. They're constantly traveling for work. Cliche, I know, but I can't do anything about it. The only person that's really 'raised' me was my best friend.
"I know something that'll lift your spirits," She smirked and stepped away from my locker.
"Oh no," I laughed, sometimes when Briza gets an idea I get scared for myself.
"Meet me in front in two!" She called out before skipping away.
So I guess we're ditching class like last week, nothing new. I shoved my binders and textbooks into my yellow backpack and shut my locker. Luckily I had a bottom locker, I'm not the tallest so reaching the top hook last year was a struggle.
"What do you have in mind?" I asked as we quickly ran out of the now-empty building.
Because everyone was in class and the staff were lazy fucks, our escapes were simple.
"Burgers, duh,"
"I like that idea," I smiled.

"What would you two ladies like?" The waitress asked.
"Two bacon burgers and large fries please," Briza responded and handed off her menu.
"No drinks?"
"Two milkshakes please," I answered knowing Briza couldn't pass up a vanilla shake.
"But milkshakes are so expensive," She whined after the lady left.
"Hey, you're the one treating me out,"
"Okay, okay, fine,"
After we finished our delicious meal, we walked around the busy streets for a while. My shoulders were starting to cramp due to the heavy backpack but I'd survive. Everyone got out of school a few minutes ago so the buses were full and the train ticket lines weren't something we wanted to wait in.
"Isn't that the old Avenger tower?" I pointed to the building we stood in front of.
"Oh yeah! I miss those guys, especially Spider-man," She mumbled the last part.
"Spider-man? Isn't he like fifty or something," I mocked.
"Age is just a number YN,"
"And jail is just a place,"
Suddenly a car crashed into a street lamp.
"What the hell?" Briza and I said at the same time.
Everything was chaotic. Helicopters crashed into buildings, cars rammed into each other, and people were...turning into dust?
"Briza," I called her attention.
My left hand had started disappearing, the feeling of it completely numb.
"Oh my god,"
The floor swayed beneath me, I couldn't hold on to myself any longer.
Am I dead?
