Percy woke up after a night full of nightmares. He had been plagued by nightmares since he was down here. He stood up and grabbed his pack. He walked forward to find his trap unactivated. Good. He would have no distractions for now. He walked out of his safe house. The landscape before him was littered with mountains and volcanoes. He walked on avoiding the volcanoes. The volcanoes here erupted randomly without warning. He walked on, and on and on, fighting monsters. After days of walking he finally reached the entrance to the second layer.

Most would expect the entrance to be a descending staircase or a tunnel, but it was neither. The entrance was a large cliff. The edge of the cliff led to a sheer 300 ft drop. Percy had no rope so he was going to have to go down the hard way. The rocks were sharp and loose. One wrong move and he would be falling to his death. He cautiously began descending. He grunted as he felt the rocks digging into his hands. Ignoring the pain he climbed down. Half way down the rock he kept his foot on broke. Percy nearly fell, but he avoided falling.

After that Percy continued even more cautiously, and got down without any new incident. The ground seemed to slope down. Percy noted that the air was even harder to breath. He put that in mind. The ground under him was the same as the first layer, but a little further there was a muddy layer. Percy stepped forward. He suddenly felt like he had kept his foot in the water of the Styx. Great. The mud caused pain to the part of the body it was applied.

He made a mental note to make himself a pair of boots the next time he stopped. The footwear he was wearing protected only the soles of his feet. He never really made boots since he did not need them. "Oh boy. This is going to be a long journey." He said to himself. Meanwhile the Olympians were in panic. Percy had been missing for the past three days. At first they assumed he was just on one of his trips, but soon they found out where he was.

"SILENCE!" Zeus thundered. "Perseus has been missing for the past few days. It has come to my attention that he is in Tartarus. We must try to find him. First step is to find an entrance that is navigable. From there we will send a quest to find and retrieve him." He said. In Tartarus Percy trudged down looking for a cave or any place where he could stop to rest. After an hour of searching he finally managed to find a small underground cave.

Percy drew his swords and searched the cave for danger. After he found none, he decided to make himself his boots. Hellhound hide was a very strong material. It was as strong as mortal bronze. Divine metals could shear through the hide like butter. Percy spent an hour making a pair of boots. In the three years he was stuck down here, his craftsmanship had improved by leaps and bounds. Frey also had a knack of crafting stuff, so that was like icing on the cake. Percy replaced his sandals with the boots he had made.

Meanwhile on the surface Zoë walked into Cabin 15 with Sophia and Andromeda. The trio walked to a bunk and sat down. "Do you think he can make it out?" asked Andromeda. Her voice was hoarse. Sophia gave Andromeda a half hearted smile. "Percy makes it out of the worst of situations. The odds were against us in the last war but he still manged to win the war for us." She said. Zoë remained silent. The trio sat in a tense silence thinking about their friend.

After some time Zoë broke the silence. "A few years ago when Atlas escaped the sky, before I had died, I went on a quest with Percy. He was not accepted into the quest. A hunter named Phoebe had been chosen to go on the quest, but she did not come thanks to a prank played on her. I did not choose a quest member and left. Percy had snuck out of the camp to come on the quest. He did not care about the quest. He wanted to rescue his friend Annabeth. Just as he met us the loyal fool made sure one of the most fearsome monsters were on his tail instead of mine. After all this he made it out alive. He had fell into the pit once before. He will make it out." She stood up and walked out.

She walked to the big house. Chiron sat in the rec room in his wheelchair form. "Chiron, tell the Hephaestus cabin to meet the warriors at bunker 9. We need a fast method of transportation. The Argo II is armored and fast, but it's systems are hard to fix. We need smaller vehicles to map the entrances." She said. Chiron nodded. Zoë walked out of the room. She walked to cabin 15 and went to sleep.

The next morning the warriors and the Hephaestus cabin met at bunker 9. Once everyone had arrived, Leo took charge. "The Argo II is a good way to travel around but it is hard to repair. Our objective is to design a mode of transportation that is perfect for the search of entrances to the pit." He said. The next two hours were spent in designing the perfect vehicle for the job. The next few days were spent on making the vehicle. It was named the Cheetah. The Cheetah was an airplane-like vehicle. The workings were simpler than the Argo and it was way faster. Once again Perseus Jackson had untied the demigods, even if he did it unknowingly.
