CHRISTIAN’S POV

“Did you guys actually watch any of that?” I asked Mitchel and Taylah, who were walking hand in hand through Crown after eating each other’s faces the entire movie.

“Don’t be jealous Chrissy,” Taylah turned around and just smiled at me widely. “I mean, if you’re uncomfortable though, you can go ahead and make yourself comfortable, I’m sure Georgia would be happy to help.”

“I like you better when you’re sucking Mitchel’s face,” I shot back and she shrugged.

“Do you want ice cream babe?” Mitchel asked, looking down at her. She nodded eagerly and we made our way out onto the street. “There’s a shop just down the road here.”

“Hey Taylah,” Georgia called forward to her. “Can you-”

But that’s as far as she got because a figure blurred past us, all jeans and blonde hair.

“Sorry mate,” he called as he passed, followed by a mob of screaming teenage girls. I jumped back, pulling Georgia with me, to let them pass.

“Oh my god,” she said once they were gone. “That was Cody Simpson.”

“Are you serious?” I asked, looking after the group of people growing smaller and smaller.

“Yes!” she nodded enthusiastically. “Taylah, wasn’t it – Taylah! Christian they’re gone.”

And they were. They’d disappeared as the mob ran past. We were standing alone on the footpath, Taylah and Mitchel nowhere in sight. I sighed and pulled out my phone, dialling Mitchel’s number. It rang a few times before going to voicemail. Great, when I actually need him he doesn’t answer. I tried Taylah and got the same.

“Let’s go down to the ice cream shop and see if they’re there,” she suggested and I agreed. It was kind of cold so I wrapped an arm around her shoulders as we walked.

Of course when we got to the ice cream shop, they were nowhere in sight. We decided to wander around a little bit and see if we could find them. We kept trying to call them but still got no answer. Then, to top off the absolutely perfect night, it started pissing down.

Georgia squealed and ducked through the nearest doorway, I wasn’t far behind. We were in some little exhibitiony kind of centre. There were a few little exhibits and rooms that branched off. We slipped into one of these and found ourselves in the dark. Streams of light were shooting across the room to form moving lines on the wall. You could walk right through them, making shadows and running your hands through the light like water.

“Here, come to the side,” I said quietly, almost whispering for some reason I didn’t even know. She started walking unsurely towards me, not able to see properly.

She tripped and I caught her, stumbling back so I was against the wall. One arm was around her waist, holding her up against me. I raised the other one and pushed back a lock of hair that I could just barely see. In the dark, I could just vaguely see her features, even though her face was so close to mine. But even in the dark, she looked so damn pretty.

She laughed nervously, but neither of us moved apart. I snuck a glance down at her mouth, trying to sum up the nerve to just lean forward those couple of centimetres. It would be so easy. Come on Christian, closer, closer…

Then bam! Our lips touched and that was it. My arm around her tightened as we got into a rhythm and lost ourselves in the dark. She pulled away and looked up at me, her eyes sparkling with excitement and her breathing not right.

“Shit,” she laughed breathlessly. “That was… um unexpected.”

“You’re telling me,” I grinned. “So um, this might be a little, but do you want to go out with me some time?”

“It would be my pleasure,” she gave me a brilliant smile. She stood up on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to mine quickly again before stepping back playfully, holding my hand.

“What are you two doing over there?” A voice came from the other side. “Out, both of you!” We hurried out past the security, trying not to burst out laughing. We got all the way outside before remembering why we’d gone in in the first place, but by then we were already soaked.

We were standing in the rain laughing our heads off when my phone started vibrating in my pocket.

“Hello,” I answered, my teeth chattering a little in the rain.

“Christian you idiot!” Tyrone’s unmistakably annoyed voice came through the phone. “Where the hell are you?”

“Um the city,” I answered unsurely. “Why?”

“Taylah and Mitchel have been trying to call you,” he sighed in exasperation. Sure enough, I had a heap of missed calls, we must have just kept missing each other. “Everyone’s freaking out. Are you guys okay?”

“Yeah we’re fine we just got seperated,” I assured him.

“Good,” he said, sounding relieved but still ticked off, whoops. “Can you get back to Crown? Brock’ll pick you up.”

“Yep, we’ll be ten minutes,” I hung up and took hold of Georgia’s hand, walking back up the street towards Crown. We got there a few minutes later and it wasn’t hard to find the car with the other’s waiting inside.

“What the hell were you thinking?” Was the immediate question thrown at us when we got in.

“Hey, we’re not the only ones who didn’t answer their phones,” Georgia said defensively. “We were just looking for you guys.” Yeah, that’s all we were doing…

“Guys, we were worried,” Brock said sensibly. “Two fifteen year olds out alone in the city at night, can you blame us?”

“Sorry,” I said sincerely. “We didn’t mean to get everyone freaked out.”

“All good, nobody got hurt,” he shrugged, pulling out onto the road. “Next time, turn your phones off silent when you get out of the movie. That goes for all of you.”

When we got home, it was nearly midnight. Tyrone greeted us at the door, seeing we were okay before heading off to bed. When we went upstairs, we found Maeve and Luke asleep on the couch in the spare room, the TV having been turned off and a blanket laid over them.

“Night guys,” I yawned, giving Georgia’s hand a sneaky squeeze before heading to my room with Mitchel. I changed out of my wet clothes quickly and fell straight into bed. Despite the whole getting lost thing, that was a damn good night.
