Alex
My eyes, though hidden by my glasses, couldnt help but focus on the girl leaning against the wall. She didnt know i could see her behind the staircase but her pink tipped hair was hard to miss. I kept singing to Kevin as i walked by but my curiosity did not decrease as i stamped her image in my mind.
Nat
"Nat, youre so going to get this part!,"squealed Leslie as she jostled my hand. I grinned as i tried to regain control of my hand,"Well, if thats true, be ready for some surprise pop ins to your dressing room." Leslie was one of my closest friends who had a lead part in the musical 'Beetlejuice' and her theatre was right next to the theatre which housed the musical i had auditioned for, 'Six'.I had heard about this show when i had been finishing up college in London which was where i had become good friends with Leslie. The show was already running but they needed swings desperately which had lead to this unprecedented audition. The show was about Henry the eighth's six wives but from their perspectives with a rock pop vibe. The creators of the show Lucy Moss and Toby Marlow had staged the original at one of their college festivals and had been picked up from there. We bid each other good bye as i made my way to the tube, well subway here in New York. I had found a cute little one bedroom in Brooklyn which had thankfully been near a subway station. My father had agreed to help with rent till i was able to book a show which was such a blessing. Releasing a deep breath, that i did not realise i was holding in, i sunk into bed after my shower.
I woke up to the hot breath blowing in my face.I cracked my eyes open and and saw my samoyed cloud, Poppy shoving her nose into my hair. "Hi honey, you ready for your walk?,"i grinned at my baby. I adopted Poppy from a friend of mine in the city when i had moved here two months ago, she was my crackhead bundle of fluffy joy. I grabbed my phone as i held onto Poppy's leash with my thighs, while i locked the door. Leslie had introduced me to Kerry Butler while i had been in town. Kerry was her co star in "Beetlejuice" and it was nice to have more than one friend in the business, apart from Leslie. I met up with her while i had been out with Poppy, which was when my phone rang.
"Hi Miss Macintosh, my name is Holly Seville, the assistant director of Six,"i handed Poppy's leash to Kerry with an apologetic grin."Hi Holly, how are you?"i said, tugging my hair nervously."Im very well,I was calling back to let you know that we were very impressed with your audition,"The phone was on loud speaker which elicited a happy squeak from Kerry."so we'd like for you to come onboard as a swing,"she said in one breath.I'm glad she did because the see saw of emotions i had in the moment was...A LOT.I dropped down on a bench as Kerry hugged me tight while Poppy put her paws in my lap."Thank you so much Holly,"I said as she ended the call with a promise of forwarding me rehearsal details. "NAT! Leslie and i will get to see you everyday now!!and this fluffball,"she shrieked hugging me tighter. I was going to be on Broadway, this was my starting point.
