At this moment, Youngjo really thought that life could not get any better than this. Looking around the inside of his completed hut, he truly believed that he had it all. This is where he was supposed to be.He watched as Hwanwoong sat by their only lit candle, folding the rest of their laundry that had finished drying in the sun earlier today. His omega was concentrated, faintly squinting his eyes, creating the cutest wrinkle between his eyebrows. He subtly bit on the inside corner of his lip, a habit he's had since a pup, and Youngjo couldn't help but find the blonde male absolutely stunning in every way.
They have only been mated for a little over two months now, but the alpha is already perfectly sure that their mating was the best decision he's ever made.
Just observing how the younger puts so much effort into a task as simple as laundry, making sure every folded crease is precise and handled with care in order to avoid wrinkles, ensures Youngjo once more of how great of a decision it truly was. He finds a new reason to believe it everyday.
Youngjo couldn't be more grateful to his parents for picking Hwanwoong for him.
As the Head Alpha's son, it was only tradition for his parents to personally choose who they believed was a perfect mate for the alpha. Whoever they chose would stand beside him for the rest of his life. And when the time came for Youngjo to take the place as Head Alpha over the Blood Moon pack, whoever they chose would be his rightful Luna.
The young alpha was relieved more than anything that they chose Hwanwoong.
As pups, Youngjo and Hwanwoong played as best friends. Though there were a couple years between them and many other children of the fruitful pack to frolic with, the two always wound up together. Youngjo would share his abundance of handmade toys, while Hwanwoong would teach the older exciting games, like hide and seek and hopscotch.
They were like this for many years. Everyone within the pack knew how close they were.
The dynamics of their friendship began to change when Youngjo presented first at fifteen.
Presenting as an alpha within the Blood Moon pack was looked highly upon, especially as the Head Alpha's son. There were huge celebrations all around the pack, cheering for the male for showing as a majestic alpha.
Alphas were known to be strong and mighty. To their pack, the more alphas they had, the more powerful they were, so his presentation was exciting.
Another tradition the pack maintained was having fresh alpha's undergo a hunting ritual, which consisted of sending them out into the depths of the forests on their own until they could return with a slaughtered buck.
For some new alphas this could take as long as months, but for Youngjo, he was welcomed back after three short days, a new record, bringing a sense of pride to Head Alpha Kim.
As a new alpha, this also meant that Youngjo was encouraged to spend most of his days with older alpha mentors, permitting him less and less time to spend with an unpresented Hwanwoong. But anytime the pair was able to spend together felt like a blessing that they wouldn't take for granted.
Sometimes they would meet each other late at night, under the stars and away from the pack village just to have short visits before anyone could notice their absence.
It was a couple years later when Hwanwoong presented as an omega.
This wasn't a shocker for most, especially for Hwanwoong himself. The blonde was teased by many of the other children growing up for his small stature and feminine features. In a pack that practically worshipped alpha's, bullying wasn't uncommon.
