The flame from the burning fire was blinding behind his eyelids, and Leedo groans as he forces them open. They felt as if each one weighed a million pounds. He couldn't help but roll them shut, barely able to keep them open from how tired and weak he was. He was conscious, but his whole body was very weak and heavy with exhaustion from it healing itself.
A gentle hand brushes through his hair, brushing it back off of his damp forehead and it took every single bit of energy in his arm to reach out and grab the hand. From the strong maple scent wafting through the air, he knew it was his beta by his side. Leedo sighs deeply, "You should be resting."
"As should you," Dongju's voice spoke softly as the beta brings the hand up to his lap and plays with the alpha's fingers, "How are you feeling?"
The Alpha grunts, never opening his eyes as his thumb gently strokes Dongju's soft knuckles, "Weak."
"You're going to be for a bit," Dongju hums, "That bite was nasty. It's amazing you survived through that. I have never heard of anyone surviving a bite from that type of snake, with it's venom working quickly and how much nerve damage it has done to your body-"
"I'm fine now," Leedo assures his Beta, Dongju's scent spiking a little with stress, "I'm alive."
"Barely," Dongju snaps, "How dare you let that damn thing strike you."
Leedo snorts, if his eyes were opened now he would surely roll them. But he kept his eyes shut, "I was protecting my Luna. Our Luna. I couldn't let that snake bite him, he means too much to our pack and to us-"
"But you're okay with the thought of leaving me," Dongju interrupts, "Right? I was the mistake was I not?"
Leedo clenches his jaw, his anger growing a bit but he sighs softly, "I didn't mean it like that."
"What did you mean by it?" Dongju snaps again, "Huh? What if you had died? Where would that leave me? They wouldn't keep me here, they would kick me out of this territory not even before your body turns stiff and cold-"
"They wouldn't do that," Leedo growls, forcing his eyes open even if they were squinted, "Youngjo would have never kicked you out if I did not survive. Besides, you would've eventually found another wolf that you would want to be with that's not me after what I did to you."
"Do you really think my wolf would want that though? Just from you nearly dying made my heart ache and my wolf was stressed trying not to think of the thought of living without you," Dongju rolled his pretty blue eyes, and for the first time since he had been in his coma, Leedo had noticed just how beautiful his Beta truly is. His blue eyes were kind of dull however, bags under his eyes from the tireless nights he stayed awake with Leedo to wait and see if he were to wake up and needed something. His cheeks were slightly slimmer, but puffy at the same time. He did look as if he was slightly slimmer as well...
"Have you slept? Or ate anything at all?" Leedo frowns, changing the topic after seeing the condition his beta was in, "You need to care for yourself-"
"I was helping Keonhee take care of you," Dongju rolls his eyes as he scoffed, "I didn't have time to sleep or eat."
Leedo used every muscle in his body to try and sit up, but Dongju places a hand on his bare chest, "No, you need to rest-"
"I want you to rest with me," Leedo grabs the beta's hand, and pulls him down onto the furs with him, "Please, you look exhausted."
"I'm fine," Dongju assures the Alpha, but Leedo knew better. Dongju could barely keep his eyes open as well, looking more tired and fatigued to the Alpha than what he is letting on.
