chapter 1

Ace^
Acelynn pov:

this isn't the situation i wanted to be put through i mean everyone finding out I've been to juvie twice from the school bully in the middle of an assembly isn't fun to say the least
"Everyone settle down" principal Harper shouts and the room goes from loud conversation to quiet in a matter of seconds
"Are you ok ace?" My best friend Jo asks nudging me while I'm spaced out or more like dissociative
"Yeah it's not like I was hiding it or anything" I say but in reality it does bother me
"Miss prices past is none of anyone's business especially not yours mr.clifton since you have bigger things to worry about like science" principal Harper says and there are a few snickers across the crowd
"If the bullying wasn't bad enough before it'll be worse now" jo says rolling her eyes as Tristan gives us the most hate filled look
"Yeah but just wait until he learns that my parents are the same people that run price industries and own a couple hundred million dollars"I say quietly so only she hears and she laughs
"Everyone would be way nicer to you if you just showed your skill and stopped trying to not be noticed" she says and honestly I'm a bit tired of having this conversation with her
"If it makes you feel better I'll go to volleyball tryouts tomorrow morning" I say and she laughs

As much as I miss living in Texas living in a way smaller city that's almost a town with my aunt and uncle is much easier
"Don't forget breakfast" my aunt says handing me a coffee and bagel when I get downstairs at 6 for the 6:30 tryout and I'm surprised since I didn't even tell her and was just planning on leaving then sending her a quick text
"Thanks aunt Kate but how did you know?" I ask and she smiles
"I had a feeling of all the things you decided to miss in favour of blending in volleyball wouldn't be one of them" she says as I grab my backpack off the kitchen chair that my orange tabby Apollo is sleeping on
"I love it too much to give it up" I say grabbing the keys to the car I share with my cousin off the hook by the door
"Jackson needs the car after school to get to his tutor on time after his football game" she says and I nod
"I gotta go But I love you and I'll see you after school" I say before opening the front door and venturing out to the beat up dodge on the driveway

I get to the school and realize that the clothes in my bag aren't my current gym strip,they're my volleyball training uniform from the state team
"Well one thing after another" I mutter and text jo
Me:hey can I borrow your gym strip
Jojo siwa🔥:sure my locker combo is 24 0 15
Me:great thanks :)
Jojo siwa🔥:why tho
Me:I brought the wrong bag
Jojo siwa🔥:ok well good luck
I put the clothes on and look in the mirror at my short dark brown hair and quickly run a brush through it

Luckily I'm not the last one into the gym to start warming up with some drills
"Alright everyone over here" coach calls and we all go over and stand in a group in front of him
"What's the plan coach?" One of the popular jocks says,I think her name is Cassie
"I'm seeing some new faces so let's start off with some pepper" he says and we form 2 lines and go back and forth in a bump set spike pattern but when someone spikes on me I barely get the receive enough to send it back
"Nice one,I haven't seen someone make a receive off Lilly but me in a long time" a girl says as I join the line behind her
"Im ace" i say and she smiles
"ace? Well your aim is set high anyway Im Sarah but my friends call me digs" she says and I can bet she's the libero by the nickname
"No my name is acelynn but ace for short,What position do you play?" I ask anyway and she laughs
"I think you already know but I play libero,what about you what are you hoping to play?" She asks and well I played as a setter but I kinda want to switch it up since I have played other positions quite well in the past
"Im hoping outside hitter" I say because it's my second favourite position to play

We finish up kings court with me and digs in the second to king spot
"Not bad juvie kid" Cassie says passing me to get into the change room
"Hey price can I talk to you?" Coach asks from where he is over by the gym office
"Yes coach" I say and jog over there
"Were you on your last schools volleyball team?" He asks me
"Yeah I was a setter but I kinda want a change" I say
"What position are you hoping for?" He asks
"Starting Outside" I say confidently
"Well you're competing with jazz for it but I'd love to see you back here the same time tomorrow" he says and let's me go shower and change back into the clothes I'll wear to class

Jo sits next to me in Ap English as the teacher starts the lesson
"How was tryouts?" She asks while writing the notes
"Pretty good at least I'm going back tomorrow morning for callbacks or whatever also thanks for lending me your gym strip" I say while also writing the notes from the powerpoint then my teacher stops talking as none other than Tristan walks through the door
"Nice of you to join us Tristan,go take a seat" Mrs.Harlow says and he trudges to a desk in the back which is directly across the room from us
"He wasn't suspended" jo whispers to me shocked
"Principal Harper told me yesterday he would be disciplined but he would have to decide what so I guess he's still deciding" i whisper
"Well at least you're almost on the volleyball team" jo says and I laugh quietly

One of my favourite things about this school is that the football teams quarterback is a girl and what are the odds that just as I'm thinking about that I accidentally walk right into her
"I'm sorry i guess I wasn't looking where I'm going" the blond haired quarterback says and offers me a hand to help me up
"No it's my fault my head isn't on earth today" I say and she laughs
"Been there" she says helping me pick up my books
"Don't take this the wrong way but why are you helping me? Most people avoid me" I say and she just smiles
"Just because you've been to juvie doesn't mean you're a bad person and I haven't told anyone so don't snitch but my brothers in jail too and he's still a good guy" she says and I laugh
"Well Erin good luck at the game tonight" I say and make my way to class

A/n:what's up alphabet mafia it's Kat and im lowkey proud of this story but also open to ideas and feed back so hopefully you enjoyed this first chapter and I get it's a little wack at first but I don't know I have lots of good ideas for this story too
