bury your shiny pennies
in the dirt
so that hasty feet
may shuffle over it

bury your shiny pennies
but not too deep
for they are still of value

and amidst the dust and debris
and in the scorching sun
lay your pennies to rest

until the shuffling finally resurfaces them
& the sun makes it glisten
& they'll catch the eye
of somebody who'll hold them tightly

bury your shiny pennies
let them gather dust
but fear not
they always make it out
to where they belong
