Song- Into the Abyss (Coogie & Suran)
A/N- So how does it feel now?
-Past-
We stepped into the building, it was vacant and destroyed from the inside out. I stood at the entry taking in my surroundings, there were statues that were completely broken into pieces and others were still a bit intact with a missing arm or fingers.
"Something doesn't feel right about this place..." Nine trailed off, he walked around a statue and disappeared from our sight. Five goes to the end of the building checking the back of the building and Two stays beside me, for who knows what reason. I had a tingling feeling at the back of my neck, the way I feel when someone is watching me but I looked around and didn't find anything odd or out of place in this building.
I headed outside once again to see if there was someone outside but found nothing except for the neverending sight of the desert in front of me. "It's a nice view, huh?" Two comes up from behind me nearly scaring the living crap out of me.
"Not really... it makes me feel lonely" apart from the desert being really hot, it wasn't what I expected. I was pretty sure that today there was more wind than other days, whether if it was in the city or here outside. Looking at the endless sand in front of us, makes me think about how those nomads live out here. How do they make a living in the first place? How do they survive?
"What do you mean by lonely?" I bit my lip and sighed "Its not really the lonely feeling it's more than looking at all the sand and thinking that we may be the only people here gets me almost low-spirited"
"I get what you mean" Two nodded "I have to get something from the car, I'll be right back" he gave me a cheeky smile, breaking our current depressing mood. I turned around to go back into the inner building.
"What the?" There was no sign of Five nor Nine, I approached the empty building while taking out my gun. The silence was foreboding as if something was going to happen. It went on for minutes that felt like hours, my heart was racing and the back of my neck tingled.
Suddenly a figure appeared at the back of an opening where a door used to be. He ran but he was too far away and I couldn't tell who it was. My finger was on the trigger, prepared to shoot if anything happened. I didn't move, I stayed in my place until the figure got closer. Slowly, I began figuring out who it was.
Nine, he was yelling something out but I hesitated not knowing what he was trying to tell me. I saw him put on his augs and I did the same. "All members, get back to the vehicle! This is an order!" His breathing was erratic, I didn't know what was happening but I wasn't going to stay and see for myself. Whatever it was, it definitely wasn't something good. I ran with my gun in hand to the end of the building, going down a couple of stairs. I began looking for Two, he had to be around here somewhere. There was also no sign of Five, I quickly hurried to the car and jumped into the driver's seat.
I looked around for the key but it wasn't anywhere I looked for it. I looked up in a panic, following Nine was what looked like an army. But I know what it really was, they looked human but weren't really human. From far away they looked like us but once you investigated closely, their eyes, fingers, legs, ears seemed to be inhumane.
They were robots.
Nine was getting closer to me but the robots seemed to gain speed, my eyes widened.
"Eleven!" Two appeared next to the window, not seeming to notice what was going on. "Get in the car!", without hesitation, he went to the back seat only waiting on Nine and Five.
He was so close, "C'mon Nine!" I yelled out in panic, after hearing my voice he pushed himself harder. However, almost in slow motion, the crowd gathered around him like a predator.
"Get out of here!" I heard grunts coming from my augs, he wasn't going to get out of here alive. At the corner of the building opening I saw Five hiding, but it was too late we couldn't do anything, she had to escape herself. It seemed as if the robots hadn't noticed us yet so if anything we could wait until something happens. Five gets up and starts running towards us, she's agile to dodge around the many arms reaching out for her, and though it wasn't close she managed to get to the car.
She opens the door to the passenger seat and pulls out something from her pocket and places it into my hands.
"Drive" she simply said, I obeyed calmly putting in the key and turned the car on. The last thing I saw before pressing on the accelerator was Nine being held up with a gun pressed against his head.
A loud crack resonated in the air as tears escaped my eyes, we shot through the desert until we couldn't see anything behind us anymore.
