CHAPTER 19

Narrator's P.O.V

Astrid stayed in front of that door for hours, doctors and nurses that passed in front of her looked at her with pity on their eyes, maybe the had heard the heart breaking sound of her voice calling for Hiccup, maybe another doctor or nurse had told them about it, but anyway they knew. They knew and they didn't said anything, what could they said?

Astrid was not crying anymore, she was a Hofferson, Hoffersons were not suposed to cry. But her eyes were red and puffy, maybe for the tears or maybe for her headhache or maybe for the fact that she hadn't sleep. Nobody really care about the reason.

After some hours, Astrid was very thirsty, she tried to avoid thinking about it but in the end she decided that the best thing was to go quickly to the bathroom drink water and return to wait for Hiccup. She went to the nearest bathroom, it was located in the room where people was really suposed to wait. There were just a a family and a couple of people, she wondered if anyone was related to Hiccup, if anyone but here where there for him, she didn't knew anything about his family. She entered the bathroom and drink water, she looked at herself on the mirror. She was a mess. She sighed and left, when she was going to enter the operations corridor again, where she had waited all that hours, a little girl came running in her direction.

"Do you know the auburn boy who's in one of those rooms?" She asked Astrid.

"Yes, why?" Astrid was surprised, maybe she was his cousin or something like that.

"Is he alright?" The girl asked.

"I don't know." Astrid replied, nobody had tell her if he was alright, everytime she asked they smiled politely and left.

"Oh... I hope he's okay." The girl said looking at her foot.

"He's strong and stubborn, I'm sure he's alright. He has to be..." Astrid replied, she didn't knew the girl but she thought that she had to comfort her. But she wasn't sure if that words were directed to the girl or to herself.

"I supose... I don't know him, I just met him today." The girl replied.

"Aren't you his family?" Astrid asked surprised.

"No, a doctor said his name a while ago and nobody answer his call, my mummy told me that maybe his family don't know that he's here yet." The girl explained, Astrid thought about it, she suposed that his family will be devastated by the news, if only she knew who they were she could contact them. Astrid thought about it and she realized that maybe he only had his father, he didn't have siblings and her mother was dead. Maybe he didn't have aunts, uncles and cousins.

She smiled, maybe he only had his father... and Astrid. She felt bad for smiling at that.

"I'm sure his father will come very soon." Astrud said.

"I supose, are you his sister?" The little one asked.

"No, I'm... his friend." Friend? Astrid thought, they were more than friends but they hadn't talked about it, they were suposed to talked about it that afternoon.

"And how did you knew that he had an accident?" The girl asked curiously.

"I was here and... I saw him." She didn't wanted to tell a strange that she was a patient too, so she simply said the truth, not everything, but the truth.

Astrid thought that the conversation had eneded so she headed tl the doors that leaded to the corridor of the operation rooms. Maybe they had finished with Hiccup and they were carrying him to a bedroom. When she was almost reaching the door, the girl grabbed her hand. Astrid turned to face her.

"He saved my life." Was all the little girl said, Astrid looked at her and smiled lightly.

"He saved mine too."
