Okay, so I know what you might be thinking, "Travis! Was there a second date? Did you kiss? Tell us all of the juicy details!" Well, I like to keep it PG over here, if you wanted some dirty shit, learn about Nico and Will's relationship story, that will satisfy your need for dirtiness.

Anyway, me and Katie went back to camp. I walked her to her cabin like a nice gentleman, and said good night. I might or might not have sprinted the whole way back to my cabin trying not to scream with joy. But that's a secret I'll never tell.

I walked into the cabin to see that they were all still up, despite the time.

"Bro, why are you guys all up?"

Conner laughed.

"We needed to know how things went with Katie."

I smiled.

"There will be a second date!"

My whole cabin sounded like a group of fan girls. I found it hilarious and slightly embarrassing.

"I'll tell you guys more about it in the morning, just let me sleep."

They seemed reluctant, but I just forced my way to my room. I started to change out of the nicer clothes and threw on some pajamas. Which are just basketball shorts. Doesn't matter how cold it is, I'll only sleep in shorts, case closed. Anyway, when I walked into the bathroom to brush my teeth, Conner was there.

"Run into any monsters?"

I froze. I didn't expect him to ask that.

"Yeah."

Conner waited for me to elaborate but I didn't. So he pushed farther.

"C'mon, what could be so bad? Was it empousai? Cause that would suck balls."

I wanted to smack him so hard but I restrained myself.

"No, it was a shapeshifter. I don't remember any shapeshifting monsters in Annabethe's monsters class."

Conner looked deep in thought.

"I guess you're right, but it could be from Greek, Roman, Egyptian, or Norse. And don't forget about the dozens of other mythologies that are also out there!"

I head pounded. I still couldn't wrap my mind around Norse and Egyptian mythology, let along hundreds of others out there.

"Let's hope it's not too crazy."

Conner nodded and went back the brushing his teeth. After I finished, I climbed into bed and shut the lights off. As I tried to fall asleep, the only thing that was in my mind was Katie.

.............................
I'm going to save you from the boring shit. I'll just summarize the first week of dating Katie. Almost every night we went on picnics in the woods. Katie loved them. She said that the forest was her safe place, that she could think. She looked so at peace with the world, and I loved that about her. Katie always made me feel humble. She didn't care about my looks or my social standing, all she cared about was what was on the inside.

I liked her way more than that. Her personality was charming in every way, she had this smile that was so contagious, a laugh that made everyone laugh too, and a beautiful voice. She claims she can't sing, but I doubt it. Katie can only emit beauty in every way. Period.

Anyway, back to the week. Katie and I told Chiron about the strange monster and how we didn't recognize it. He didn't like it. He said it wasn't from Greek mythology, but from Inuit mythology. It was a shapeshifter, obviously. It was called a Ijiraq. I know. How in the gods name do you say that? I asked the same question. It's pronounced EE-yuh-ruck. It basically could change into any animal or human but have its eyes stay the same red. I had asked a very smart question at that point, something along the lines of "What is this thing and why is it bothering us?"
