"We need them to stop." You told Blaze as the two of you stood in the middle of the road, waiting for the wolves. "How are we going to make them stop?"
You tried to think. You really did. But you were panicking.
You had to protect your charges. No madder the price.
You saw the wolves round the corner, heading straight for you. You were out of time.
Luckily for your Blaze had a plan.
He reared up, in the most epic rear ever. Then the moment his two front hooves hit the ground a wall of bright orange flames erupted from the ground, blocking off the trail for the wolves.
"I did not know you could do that." You told Blaze, your voice calm but full of shock as you watched the flames dance around in front of you.
Blaze nickered, proud of him self for stopping the wolves.
But you needed a plan, the flames weren't going to keep them back for long. You needed to take them out, but you couldn't rely on brut strength alone.
They freaking took down Asgardian guards trained to protect and fight.
You were just a teenage human girl with a magical horse.
You needed to out smart them. You needed to get under their skin, make them angry, make them make poor stupid decisions to beat them.
Fortunately you were really good at getting under people's skin when you wanted to.
*
You and Blaze leaped through the fire wall, running passed the confused wolves, only to stop and turn around when you were a safe distance from them. You noticed right away that the guards had taken out quite a few of them in their fight. Now you only had to deal with five of them. That was somewhat comforting... in a way.
At least you knew now that they could be taken out.
"You'er all pathetic." You informed the burly men, who were just confused as to who you were and why you jumped out of the raging flames. "You couldn't even get the princesses you were after. What are you all? A bunch of special butterflies? Incapable of the simplest tasks? Please."
Ok, so maybe you weren't as articulate as Loki when insulting people, but you didn't need to be when you were dealing with these half wits.
"Watch your tongue girl." One of the warriors snarled at you already getting mad. It seamed like these people had a short temper.
That was good for you. You needed to get them upset for what you were planing.
"You don't know who your dealing with." Another warrior chimed in just as upset.
"A bunch of half wits and their over grown chihuahuas?" You asked them. It took all your self control not to smirk. You couldn't let them see you were toying with them. They may start to think you were up to something.
"What did you just call us?" On of them demanded in a angry snarl.
"Half wits." You told them again. "Or would you prefer slobber brains? On account that your chihuahuas look like they could slobber us up a whole new ocean?"
"Your going to wish you were never born when we get our hands on you!" One of them yelled.
"If you get your hands on me." You corrected.
The warriors seamed to have had enough of your taunting, because the lead warrior yelled, "get her!"
The warriors charged you, their wolves snarling and foaming at the mouths, their razor sharp teeth bared.
Blaze turned on his heal, galloping down the dirt road. You may have been bad with directions but there was one thing you knew. You've been here before. In this part of the woods.
You knew where you needed to go.
*
"Are they still fallowing us?" You asked Blaze as the two of you galloped through the forest. It was a difficult task of leading the wolf warriors through the forest at a fast enough pace that there was no way they could get you, but also a slow enough pace that you didn't lose them and kept them thinking they had a chance.
There had been a few times where Blaze had to jump sideways, almost leaving you behind, because a wolf got to close and lunged at him.
You looked back to make sure the warriors where still with you. You couldn't lose them. Not yet.
Thankfully they still were.
One of the warriors shot a arrow at you. It brushed passed your ear so close that you could feel the wind from it.
"That was a little too close for comfort." You said out loud to no one in particular. "We are almost there? Right?" You asked Blaze.
He nickered, trying to assure you that you were, indeed, almost there.
"Don't kill her!" You heard the lead warrior snarl. Probably at the man who was shooting arrows at you. "She will be worth nothing dead."
That didn't sound good. Why in the wide wide world would these creepy men be worried about how much you were worth? Were they planing on taking your whole group of girls and selling you to the highest bidders?
Even though that's what this was sounding like it didn't make any sense. Their attack was way to planed out for them just to be a couple of simple kidnappers. There had to be something else. Something obvious you weren't thinking of.
"There it is." You pointed out when you got to the cave entrance you were looking for.
It was a huge dark cave in the side of a mountain. There were claw and antler marks marking the trees and near by rocks. A warning to other creatures that this spot was taken. If they got too close they would be attacked.
That's what you liked about animals. They were always so honest.
A rattle snake rattles it's rattle? You know it's going to bite.
Claw marks on a near by tree? It's some kind of animals territory.
A horse pins it's ears back? It's going to attack.
Most animals always warn you first before striking out.
Blaze slid to a stop in front of the giant cave, looking inside for what the two of you came here for.
"Is it home?" You asked Blaze as the two of you peaked inside.
Blaze whinnied into the cave, calling to the creature that lived here, but the cave only echoed back. Blaze's whinny bouncing helplessly off the walls.
There was no movement. No sounds. No heavy foot steps of a huge strong creature coming your way. Nothing.
"Well, well, well," one of the men smirked at you triumphantly. "Looks like it's the end of the line. You can either come nicely and we won't hurt you or come the hard way. The choice is up to you."
Blaze snorted, pawing the ground angrily, and with a flash of golden magic you were now holding a giant metal sword.
Which would have been great if you knew how to willed a sword.
You didn't.
"Great." The warrior that spoke to you last said. "I was hopping you would pick the hard way." And with that they lunged.
Blaze jumped sideways, dodging the five charging wolves, almost leaving you behind in the proses.
You grabbed onto his mane, gaining your balance back just in time to see a wolf jumping straight at you, claws and teeth bared.
On instinct you held your sword out, the pointy end facing the wolf while the butt of the sword rested on your chest for support. You fell sideways, off your horse, as the wolf came in contact with your sword, impelling himself in the chest with it.
You ended up laid out of the forest floor with a big dead wolf laying on top of you. You managed to wiggle your way out from underneath it to find Blaze fighting the rest of the wolves, though it took you a minute to figure out what you were looking at.
Blaze was standing just in front of you, ears pinned back in an angry expression. The four other wolves and riders looked like they wanted to attack, but were hesitant about it to say the least.
One of the warriors had a big red mark on his face. It looked like he got hit in the face with a whip really hard. Another warrior had leaves the twigs in his and his wolf's hair. Like he was attacked by a plant.
You looked at the wolf you had just taken down noticing that the rider was no where to be found. That's until you saw him tangled up in a bunch of tree branches. But it didn't look natural. It looked as if the tree hand reached out and grabbed the man, the branches pinning him to the trunk of the tree.
A braver wolf and rider lunged at you, decided that whatever the threat was it was worth it.
You felt magic come from Blaze, reaching out to the trees. Once his magic touched the trees they came to life. The tree's branches extended, whipping at the attacking wolf, and trying to rope it.
One of the trees hit the wolf in the side just right. It went flying, rolling into its rider the moment it hit the ground. Before either of them had a chance to get up the closest tree to them wrapped it's branches around the pair, binding them to its self.
Blaze's magic was impressive, but you could tell he was running out of energy. Fast.
He was breathing hard and his neck was all sweaty. His eyes were glazed over as well, focusing mostly on keeping his feet under him. He couldn't keep his magic up much longer. He shouldn't have kept his magic up this long in the first place.
"Blaze you need to drop your magic." You told your horse calmly, stroking his thick neck. "You can't keep this up forever bud. You need to pace yourself."
Blaze didn't want to drop his magic. You could see it in his eyes. But he needed to. He couldn't protect you if he was passed out. So Blaze dropped his magic on the trees, taking back in the strength of his unused magic. You could see his eyes becoming more focused and his breathing steady as the magic that was stretched thin from tree to tree was returned to Blaze.
Unfortunately the wolves could feel the magic leave. They waisted not time in lunging at the two of you.
You grabbed Blaze's mane and jumped onto his back gracefully as the two of you dodged the on coming attack.
You and Blaze ran around the clearing by the cave, trying to stay alive. Blaze would strike and kick the wolves when they got too close and you would poorly throw the daggers Blaze continued to summon you.
You really should have had Loki show you how to properly throw a dagger. But you never thought you would need to use one. You always had your guns. Now that you knew Blaze could only summon weapons like swords and daggers you were definitely going to have Loki teach you a few tricks when you get back to the palace.
The wolves finally managed to push you and Blaze up against the mountain with no where to run. You were out of ideas and out of time. You didn't know what to do. All you could do was pray that Loki and Thor were on their way.
The wolves lunged and you closed your eyes, mentally preparing yourself for the pain that was to come.
But the pain never came.
Instead there was a earth shaking roar that came through the trees. A big blur ran out of the forest, ramming into the lead wolf with its giant antlers.
"Scrooge!" You yelled in delight at the creature that saved your butt.
Scrooge was the big scary animal with scales and huge antlers that chased you through the forest on your first trail ride on Asgard. You named him Scrooge because he always seamed to be in a bad mood.
"Bilgesnipe!" One of the warrior exclaimed with shock and horror.
"Fall back!" The other warrior called.
It was too late, Scrooge was already mad at the wolves for having the audacity to be in his territory.
Scrooge roared again, before charging the last two wolf warriors left standing.
*
Scrooge was merciless, ramming the wolves with its antlers, crushing their legs with its jaw whenever it got its mouth around one of them. The wolves never stood a chance.
By the end of the battle the wolves laid lifeless on the ground, their riders groaning in pain next to them.
Scrooge turned on you and Blaze after that, sizing you up to see if you were a threat.
"Thanks Scrooge." You told the bilgesnipe calmly, hoping it wouldn't start attacking you.
Scrooge snorted, before lumbering back into its cave. He obviously didn't think a girl and her horse were as big as a threat at the giant wolves.
You were grateful for that.
When Scrooge was safely back in his cave you turned your attention to the warriors. You had to find out what they were doing here and why they were after your group.
Blaze summoned you five pairs of handcuffs and a long thick rope. You then started to collect the men who attacked you.
*
Once you had them all handcuffed and tied up to a tree in a near by clearing you started asking them questions.
At first they were being remarkably unhelpful, giving you stupid answers that weren't at all true and straight up refusing to talk. But after Blaze used his magic to set fire to the tree the men were much more willing to talk.
It appeared that Blaze's fire physically hurt them, like they felt like they were being roasted alive, but the fire didn't actually kill them or cause any burns.
"I'm going to ask you one more time." You snarled at the five men. "What is the real reason you came to attack the nobility?"
"We were paid." One of the men practically yelled, not wanting to get filleted by Blaze's magical fire again,
"Paid for what exactly?" You asked them firmly.
"We were paid to come collect the Jewel as Asgard!" The man sobbed. "Our boss told us that we could also take whoever else we wanted as well, as long as we brought her back!"
"Her who?" You snarled. Hoping against all hope it wasn't who you were thinking it was.
"Frigga!" The man sobbed at you.
Shit!
Shit!
Shit!
The Jewel of Asgard wasn't some precious, overpower, magical jewel.
No.
It was the queen herself!
It made complete sense now that you could see it properly. Odin loved his wife more than anything else in the galaxy. He would tear the whole galaxy apart just to keep her safe. Of course the mist ghosts would be after her. To use her as a pawn.
"Where is Frigga?" You snarled at the men, your voice filled with hate and vengeance.
"At the moment she is fighting off our other team! Back at the village." The men told you.
Shit!
There was no time!
You had to get to Frigga!
To Loki's beloved mama!
"Blaze!" You yelled at your horse.
Blaze knew exactly what you were asking for. With a flash of golden magic a note was in your hand, telling Loki and Thor where you were going and what was happening.
You placed the note with the tied up men before jumping onto Blaze's back.
"We need to get to Frigga." You told your horse. And with that the two of you galloped off into the forest once again. Hoping against all hope you were not too late.
