The sun light was seeping through the giant windows the next morning waking you up ever so gently. You yawned, flexing your arms a little to stretch out your muscles before snuggling back up to your pillow. Only your pillow didn't feel like a pillow.
       It moved.
       Up.
       Down.
       Up.
      Down.
      Like it was breathing.
      And it was cold.
     Not uncomfortably cold.
     But it was still cold.
And there was a faint booming sound. Southing and comforting? Yes. But that's not what pillows sounded like.
You shot up in bed pulling the covers with you, your half asleep brain going into fight or flight.
"It's ok." A very familiar honey sweet accent soothed as a gentle hand was placed on your back. "You'er ok."
You looked towards the person the voice and hand belonged to to find non other than Loki next to you.
"Loki?" You asked confused. "What are you doing in my room?" It didn't make sense that Loki would be in your room when he had a perfectly good room himself.
"Love, this is my room." Loki told you gently, calmly.
You sat still for a moment longer, trying to get your brain to wake up and function like a regular human.
"What am I doing in your room?" You finally asked him when your brain finally decide to work.
"Currently you are waking up." Loki replied with a smirk.
"Not what I was asking." You laughed at him playfully punching him in the shoulder. "Why didn't you just take me back to my room last night. Or you could have woken me up so I could walk back."
"A fire giant managed to get into the palace last night." Loki snarled, upset with the idea of you not being protected. Especially with a fire giant on the lose. "He didn't just manage to get into the palace! He got into the family wing! The most secure place in the palace!" Loki practically yelled, magic angrily sparking around him. "I wasn't going to leave you unprotected. Especially with that stunt you pulled last night!"
"Ok, ok. Lokes just calm down." You told him gently grabbing his hand and rubbing the back of it with your thumb. Magic sparked around him a little while longer before he finally was calmed.
"I just don't want to lose you." He told you gently and wrapped his arms around you. "You could have died last night."
"I love you too Lokes." You told him. You let him hug you for a moment longer before you pushed your way out of his grasp. "And I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy waking up to you. Or that I don't appreciate what you did to keep me safe. But I'm an adult, Loki. I work with the Avengers. I can handle one little fire giant."
"I'm thinking you don't quite understand what the word giant means, love." Loki replied blandly.
"Against popular belief I can take care of myself." You grumbled at him.
"I just want you safe." Loki told you.
"I know." You sighed. That's when you realized there was no way in Valhalla for you to convince Loki that you could take care of yourself. Especially with fire giants sneaking into the castle.
And it wasn't like you didn't appreciate his care or concern. But you wanted to nip this protective streak in the butt before it got too far out of hand.
It was already too far out of hand.
Loki had been concerned over your well being long before murderous giants were romping around the halls.
So you let the matter drop.
For now anyway.
"Thanks for protecting me last night." You thanked him, changing the subject.
"I should be thanking you." Loki replied, he still had an edge to his voice, but he was trying to calm his temper. Last night must have really shaken him up. "You fought against a powerful foe. You could have died, just to protect me and my family. If it wasn't for your loud fighting, the fire giant very well could have collected what he had come here for."
"Yeah." You agreed flatly. "It's a good thing I'm loud."
That statement made Loki start laughing. "Yes love." Loki agreed kissing the top of your head head. "It is a good thing you'er loud."
"I love you." You told Loki once his laughter died down.
"And I love you." Loki replied back honestly.
You then wrapped your arms around his waist pulling his down so you could use him as a pillow again.
Loki was the best pillow.
"Can we go back to bed now?" You asked Loki, already trapping him with your cuddles.
"As much as I love that idea, we have to get up." Loki replied gently, extracting himself out from under you. "Especially if we want to go on a short trail ride before breakfast." Loki bribed, a smirk in his voice.
Silly trickster knew you were a sucker for early morning trail rides. You were even more of a sucker for them if he was coming with you.
So you grumbled at him as you slowly climbed out of bed.
*
The trail ride was a lot of fun. Loki took you up to the mountains, there was one spot that over looked the whole kingdom. The golden city sparked in the sun. With little flying boats buzzing around it. The people walked form one place to another, collecting things for their own parties. It was truly a sight to behold.
"It's beautiful Loki." You told your boyfriend happily.
     "You are." He agreed lovingly.
You looked up at him, he wasn't even looking at the view. Instead he was watching your reaction.
"Silly trickster." You laughed at him good naturally. Loki was really romantic at times. You leaned up to kiss him and he met you half way. "What is this all about?" You asked him when the two of you pulled away, gesturing around you. "I appreciate the gesture but there has to be a reason you came out riding with me today."
"My lady wounds me with her harsh words." Loki replied with a sarcastic voice, raising his hand to his heart like you had just stabbed him. "Can I not simply spend time alone with the women I love?"
You didn't answer, instead you just gave him a knowing look. Loki was always too busy with the Harvest Ball to be coming off on trail rides with you. He was a prince of Asgard. A prince of the kingdom that was hosting these events.
You didn't blame him for the lack of quality time. You understood what was going on. Plus he spent all his free time with you when he could. But the timing was too perfect for what you knew he wanted to know.
Loki sighed as he thought of the right thing to ask. You didn't pressure him, you knew where this conversation was going.
"Last night when you told me and Thor about your dreams, the dreams of the fire giant... have you had any other dreams that have felt like that?" Loki finally asked.
"I have." You told Loki. You then continued, telling him all about the mist ghosts and Surtr.
Loki listened patiently, taking in your words fully, though his emotions were hidden, even from you. When you finished your explanations Loki thought for a long while, taking what you had said and trying to figure out... something.
"The good news is, you don't seam to be able to see the future." Loki told you with a warm smile. "That is never a blessing. You seam to only be able to see what is happening now."
"How can I even do that?" You asked him.
"Blaze." Loki answered simply. "You've been around him for years. Not only can Blaze protect you with his magic, but it seams some of his magic has have rubbed off on you. It's not powerful, nor strong, but it's there."
"So... now my dreams can take me across the galaxy? Waring me of threats?"
"Exactly love." Loki purred, proud of you for picking up how magic worked so fast.
You couldn't do spells, nor could you summon things, but you could see potential threats anywhere in the galaxy at random.
"Is there anything else I would like know about?" You asked your boys, AKA Blaze and Loki.
"Not that I'm aware of, love." Loki told you gently. "But when we get back to Midgard we will look into this more. I promise."
You nodded your agreement before you asked your next question. "Do you know what the Jewel of Asgard is? I've never heard of if."
"Unfortunately I'm at a loss for that one as well." Loki told you sadly. "I have never heard of it before."
*
After you and Loki got back the day was relatively normal. You and Loki showed up at all the royal events, you talked to the nobles, had lunch, and snuck away with Loki to get some quiet time.
It was fun being here in Asgard at a royal Ball, but it was extremely exhausting. All you wanted was one day of peace and quite. Was that too much to ask?
After dinner Loki escorted you back to your room. Or at least that's what you thought was going on.
Instead Loki led you to his room. Not yours.
"My room is over there love." You informed your silly trickster as he was opening the door.
"Yes, but my room is here." Loki told you with his signature cheshire cat grin as he lightly pulled you inside.
You allowed him to. Trusting Loki would never do anything inappropriate.
He was to much of a gentleman to ever do anything that would make you uncomfortable.
You loved him for it.
"Loki I know that you want me safe but I can fight. I'm a part of the Avengers Initiative. I fight for a living." You told your Loki patiently.
Loki sighed, gently closing the door behind him. "I know love." Loki sighed heavily. "And I love your strength. It's admirable. But can you please let me take care of you?" Loki practically begged. "I know you can take care of yourself. I know your strong. But taking care of what's mine. What I care about. It makes me feel better."
You looked into Loki's eyes, full of hope and fear. The giant really had shaken him up a little more than you had originally thought. You also had a feeling your dreams were also contributing to Loki's over over protectiveness. "As long as you don't think less of me." You agreed.
"I would never think less of you my love." Loki told you as if that idea was ridiculous, thinking this was just one of your many jokes. Until he heard a vulnerability in your voice he had never heard before. That's when he realized that you were actually scared of him thinking less of you if you showed him weakness. "I love you (y/n)." Loki told you firmly looking you in the eyes.
You tried to look away, unable to keep eye contact. Ashamed of your stupid fear.
Loki had other plans however.
He lifted your chin up with his finger, forcing you to look at him.
"I would never think less of you, (y/n)." Loki told you firmly. "You have already proven yourself more than enough times. I love you, and you showing me your weaknesses will never change how I feel."
You wrapped your arms around Loki's waist, burying your head into his chest. "You promise?" You asked him.
"Upon my mother's life." Loki assured you. That's when you knew he really truly loved you. For Loki would never say anything like that if he didn't. He loved his mama more than anything in the universe.
"How did I get so lucky to have you in my life?" You asked Loki with a smile, finally believing you were enough for a god. That you were enough for him.
"You gave me a second chance." Loki told you kissing the top of your head.
"I love you." You told him with nothing but love in your voice.
"I love you too." Loki replied.
