Chapter 18 :" In Sickness and Health "

Three Months later.

Gauri drove back home with a smile ,teaching surely fits her nature being around kids and the last three months after running around kids she was too tired to even have nightmare .

Still going back home to her son was always the most treasured part of the day ,she wanted this experience for now and when Rahul grew up a little more she will quit to home school him .

Because while all the kids are adorable, her son needed more from the teachers then the rest of the kids ,something she can only provide . By the time she parked the car and walked inside her home ,she felt close to worry as the ever Arun and Rahul were missing in the living room .

Arun knew how much she wants to see Rahul straight after work that he always makes sure both of them were in living room when she arrives but today the hall was deserted ,she checked in her son room and found him missing.

And her fear grew as each room she went turned out to be empty until she checked in the backyard,her son was playing in the sand but Arun was nowhere around .

She rushed to lift her son back into her arms and found his chubby cheeks were stained with mud and tears . She cleaned him up quickly as possible and posed the one question she hoped her son would be able to answer

" Where is your daddy beta, tell mommy where is your papa ..Papa .." She kept speaking the words while she knew her son can't speak she hoped he would be able to guide her in the right direction

Sure enough her son begin to wiggle up and down asking her to be let down then he began to waddle inside the house that she followed his shorter strides wondering where arun could be and why he left Rahul alone .

And when Rahul walked inside Arun office ,she was sure he wasn't guiding her back to his father because the room was empty just as the first time  she checked,  still she followed through her son strides who stopped walking when he reached the backside of the couch and her heart froze to see Arun laying down on the floor unconscious.

The next hour was a blur to her as she tried to wake him up and called an ambulance to rush him to the hospital ,all the while holding her son who didn't seem to understand why his father was still sleeping or why his mother was crying .

" There is nothing to worry Mrs Prasad , he fainted due to low blood pressure but we will know if there was any underlying cause once the test results arrive,  " the doctors told her,  but she wasn't able to relax until he finally woke up .

" Where am I ?, what are we doing here?  " Arun questions,  showed that he had no idea about what happened, so she filled him in and as expected he continued to worry more about Rahul than himself .

"I am so sorry ,he must be so scared ," Arun spoke up,  as he continued to fawn our Rahul sunburns thanks to the kid playing in the sun without supervision of his parents .

" He isn't scared Arun ,I think he assumed you were sleeping and when I asked him where is papa ,he led me right to you . So even if you were unconscious he didn't feel scared because he knew you were around . So you don't worry about it ," Gauri told him ,/as she tried to make him stop worrying about Rahul .

Yet she wondered if it was time to quit her job ,because it was fortunate Rahul was fine today still he could have been exposed to any number of harm . And she can't have events like that happen again .

  Arun knew Gauri was thinking of quitting the job but he can't let her do it ,because he had seen how good working had been for her and by taking it away from her ,she would revert back to her shell and he didn't want that ,it was been two days since he got discharged and it was been two days since Gauri left for work either .

    
" I am your wife in sickness and health remember ,I am not leaving to work when you are sick,  " she spoke up , when he told her that he was fine and she need not stay home on his behalf .

      
" Gauri can we talk for a moment,  " he told her,  few minutes ago and she will arrive any moment now once Rahul settles down to sleep .

       
Arun didn't how Gauri will like him deciding on Rahul behalf but his decision had been more for Gauri than Rahul .

        
" I know you love teaching and I know you went to work till Rahul grows up but I want Rahul to go to school like others kids,  " he spoke up , once she arrives and sat beside him .

       
" Our son isn't like other kids,  " she answered back , but she didn't deny him outright either .

         
"Our son isn't the only one who can't speak either ,there are school for kids like our son and the teachers have more experience than you and me combined,  " he answered back,  because Gauri needs to believe it was best for Rahul first if he had any hopes of agreeing to it .

       
" Why can't I teach him?  " She asked, and he knew she won't be satisfied until he told her every reason .

      
" Because being around other kids will keep his social life active and because going to work keeps you socially active as well . I know you won't favor the idea but Gauri ,I think this is best for you and Rahul " Arun told her and he wondered if he hurt her by his words and sometimes it very hard to decipher Gauri .

       
" Okay , but find him the best school out there in the city where the teachers are compassionate ,  " Gauri answered back , surprising him .

      
" You thought I won't agree don't you,  " she asked , at his surprised glance .

     
" Arun ,I didn't mean your Rahul father just in words . I think so from my heart and whatever decision we need to take on behalf of him will be done by both of us not just me ," Gauri replied back with a smile .

     
"Then we should hire a baby sitter for Rahul as well,so I can faint without worry,   " he spoke up next making her frown  back at him .

    
" Don't joke about it , when did the doctors ask you to come , " she asked,  jumping from Rahul mother to his friend in a heart  beat .

    
" This Saturday ,but you don't worry about it , I can go alone . The tests were a precaution I feel completely fine ," he answered back ,but he knew she won't listen to him and it was why he gave her a false date .

     
Because the results will arrive by tomorrow and he planned to make a short visit to the hospital on his own ,he didn't want to make Gauri  worry about it needlessly and once the result came back ,he can tell her that he was fine instead of dragging her to the hospital with him 

         
" Don't stay out for long ,it cold tonight,  " She spoke  up , as she walked inside leaving him grateful for having a family to care about him .
