weird story time:
when i was like eight or nine or maybe even younger, my mom would make me binge watch roots on the weekends when i didn't have my singular friend over
(roots is a book [or probably book series] about slaves turned movie series)
it was so fucking confusing to watch as a child because she never explained what slavery was to me and i hadn't really learned about it in school so i thought it was fake ??
i was all like "mommy why did they take him from his family" and "mommy why they cut that dude leg off for running away from the farm 🥺" and she was like "blah blah white people blah history blah black people blah blah blah slavery"
i didn't understand at all and it gave me nightmares lmfao but she thought she was doing the right thing by educating me so i guess i can't blame her
the movies are graphic as hell like there's tons of nudity and violence and i shouldn't have watched them as young as i was
they could double as being horror movies tbh because of the gore alone tbh
