I got up the next morning and got ready for school, today was the day I had planned to ask grace to prom

My party was in about two weeks still but I wanted to do it before I turned 18

Why, don't ask me because I don't know. I just wanted to, I guess it's because asking a girl to prom was like a childhood wonder type thing, and once I'm 18 I'm not a child anymore.

I got all dressed up because, well I wanted to look good

Then I went to pick her up

She was wearing this

And her was pulled but I two braids like this

Oh my soul she looked amazing

She had her usual adidas backpack  slung over her shoulder and she looked so ready for the day

The bruise on her cheekbone was fading, but it was still quite obvious without makeup, so as per the usual she had covered it up, but other that and a little mascara she was totally natural

I on the other hand was wearing this

And had my hair messy as usual

She slid into the front seat before I'd even taken notice that she had started walking

"Well look who dressed up today" she said, scanning me from top to bottom

"What's the occasion? OH WAIT, are you asking someone to prom today?!" She squealed

"I could say the same for you, and maybe" I blushed

"Ooo who is it!!!" She asked, I could see how Happy she was for me, and for a moment I felt like just asking her right there

But no, I needed to do this the right way, at last period history

Right where I first gave her my number

"Ahh you'll just have to wait and see, Tony doesn't even know who it is" I said and smiled, her eyes always seemed to get this little sparkle when I smiled, but I guess I was always smiling around her.

"Noooo" she whined, pouting "you have to tell me so I can stalk them on Instagram before you do it"

I laughed

"You really are something Grace" I said

She pouted, "fine, will you at least tell me when you're gonna do it?" She pleaded

"Last period, history" I replied

She thought for a moment and then did a little squeal, "it's Katie ISNT IT!" She said smiling

"As I said, you'll just have to wait and see" I smirked

She smiled at me and my heart did a backflip

"What's in the bottle" I questioned, she never really carried a non clear water bottle, which made me suspicious

"Tequila" she said unscrewing the cap and taking a sip, "mixed with water so that I don't get drunk in school, highly unlikely without the water but rather safe than sorry" she screwed the cap back on as she spoke

"Tequila?!" I shouted

"Yip" she said popping the 'p'

I launched my arms from the wheel and grabbed her bottle then took a large sip and handed it back

She clutched her sides and laughed, and I joined in

"You better not keep this far away from me" I giggled

"Oh I definitely will" she giggled

"Why?"

"You're my ride home, and I don't feel like dying" she deadpanned

And I just started laughing again

That's when we started our drive to school

We got to school and as I slid out the car I saw Kayden, Hunter, Maddie and Kayla holding a sign at the front gate that read

"Hey grace, why not try fighting back instead of over using concealer to cover up your failure"

They were all smiling like nobodies business, she just closed the door and stood there, bag over one shoulder, her eyes filled with tears

I went over to take her hand and lead her in again

But she unlaced her fingers from mine and turned around to walk home.

That's when I grabbed hand, spun her around and did a fireman pick up and walked into school

Everyone stared but I couldn't care less, we reached the gate and she whispered in my ear

I stopped in my tracks

"Put me down" she whispered
"If I do you aren't going to come to school" I said
"I will just please put me down, everyone Is staring"
"Promise you'll come?"
"Promise"

I slid her off my shoulder, but took her hand in mine and walked through the sign, breaking it in half

I was done with the way they treated her, even if she didn't care anymore
