PRESENT DAY

4 days after the accident.

My mum is still sat by my side watching over me when my sister walks in with a sad smile on her face.

"Máama....you should go and rest I'll stay with Elly"

"No...I want to stay here"

"You need to rest, Lola is waiting outside to take you home" my mum sighs before squeezing my hand and allowing Katie to lead her outside, I always thought of my mum as beautiful, she had this timeless beauty, it was like the more she got older the more her beauty increased, I always envied Katie because her and my mum were so alike, I only had her beautiful thick brown hair and brown eyes, the rest of my features were all dad, I wasn't as delicate and beautiful as my mum but now seeing Katie lead her away she looked worn out- she was still beautiful but in like an old painting kind of way, like all the life has been sucked out of her- I caused it.

I was wallowing in self-pity that I didn't notice Katie had come back into the room until I felt her squeeze my hand.

"Um...mum and dad have spoken to you so...I guess it's my turn" she says and pauses "yunno, we used to be so close...but then it all changed...you changed, like after you got really into competing you left me hanging... or maybe you grew older five years in between is a lot, it would have been nice if we weren't so close growing up, and I feel so sorry and.. and.." she says and her face crumples up and she starts to cry "and now you're here between life and death..."

You have no idea.

"And I can't do anything about it...I admit I was a bitch to you but that was because you left me out and you never showed up to support me, I was angry I thought I had a right to be but it was just petty, I mean it was hard enough because I was a little sister and you were like my perfect big sister and I looked up to you..."

" I know Katie...I'm sorry, I was selfish, I should have paid more attention to you.." I say but of course she can't hear me.

"You probably hate me.."

"No, I don't "

"I'm the last person you want to see, Lola should be here instead, she was more of a sister to you than I was, I'll talk mum into allowing her to see you..." she says and brings out a tissue to wipe her face "I'm sorry and I wish we could go back to the way we were" she sniffs "please don't leave me...even if you can't stay for me, stay for mum... she has been miserable you have no idea... when you disappeared, gawd you should have seen her, we all forgive you, I forgive you, come back." ☆

February, 2016

"You want to come over to my house?"

"No...I'm going to train"

"You're always going to train"

"I have tournaments coming up, you know that.."

"I feel like you don't ever want to hang out with me, you're always busy doing something...you're either training, studying, in class, hanging out with your friends"

"I can't ditch training or my school work and I can't ditch my friends either, I barely have any...you know this"

"Fine"

"Fine?"

"Yes...fine, it's okay if you want to break up"

"What? I never said that"

"Well...you're always blowing me off, I get the message, you're young, you're tired of me...I was just a fling, but I want you to know I love you and that will never change"

"Oh... Jayden, yunno I don't want to break up with you"

"But you don't love me either.." he says and I don't deny it, he nods his head at me- the truth was I like Jayden a lot, he was charming, wonderful, kind, attentive, thoughtful, overprotective and very successful but that was it...I liked him and he has been the only guy that has caught my eye since I was thirteen- that is progress, soon enough I'll learn to love him...I think, he starts to stand up from the stairs outside my apartment when I pulled him back down.

"What about Sunday? I could come over after church and skip family dinner"

"Are you sure your parents won't mind?"

"It's just one dinner, we will see next week" I say and he smiles cheekily at me and places his lips on mine, his phone starts beeping before he we can take further.

"One sec" he says holding up one finger, before standing up to answer his phone- I wonder why people say one sec, it never takes a second.

"Why are you sitting out here?" I turn and see Lola walking up to me, she looks up and sees Jayden in a distance and shakes her head "oh I see...never mind" she hesitates then takes a seat.

"When is lover boy leaving?" She asks and I ignore her.

"Why are you home?"

"Nothing...Mason's coming over to study"

"Yes...to study your body right?" I say and wiggle my eyebrows suggestively while she smacks my arm and starts smiling "you know I'm right....you've changed"

"In the good way or the bad way"

"In the good way...at this point you'll not die of alcohol poisoning before you turn thirty or have a liver dysfunction or something"

"I'm not that bad..."

"You are" I say and she rests her head on my shoulder and hooks her arm in mine "don't die I need you at my wedding remember...I'm getting married in my thirties who's going to be my maid of honor?" she laughs and I can't help but join in.

"Your sister?"

"Psssh..."I say and we continue laughing, my sister doesn't handle pressure well and would go mental if she was asked to plan something as big as a wedding.

We both knew this.

"Don't die, I need you in my life perioddt" she says and tries to stand up quickly as Jayden approaches but I hold her down.

"I've got to go El" he says and kisses me on my forehead and winks at me "see you Sunday."

"See you!" I say before he turns his back to me and walks towards his car.

"What's happening on Sunday?" Lola asks as soon as he gets into his car.

"None of your business lo"

"Psssh..." she says fast on my heels as I enter into the apartment.

"Oh...come on!"

"Oh...look at the time...night lo!" I say as I run into my room and close the door behind me, a few minutes later mason arrives and they start studying the human anatomy, with emphasis on the human reproductive system- I could feel the excitement through the walls, they take their education seriously.

It is going to be a lonnng night.
