...
Night time soon drew close as the sunset fell over the western horizon. Everyone was tired from emptying all the boxes. Filling up their new rooms, kitchen, bathrooms, and Game room with all their proper necessities as the house's rich and deep blue walls almost seemed to turn darker, almost black from the absence of sunlight.
Colby noticed this darker change in atmosphere and started to grow nervous as the hours went by. Ellie, on the other hand, was far too busy having fun decorating her new room on the second floor. While the twins were off exploring the other untouched rooms of the house and the backyard. Passing Ellie and Colby every few minutes.
"H-hey guys? Is it just me, or does it feel..different, all of a sudden?" Colby asked wearily. Looking at his surroundings for anything odd. Ellie just giggled and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"I'm pretty sure it's just you Colby. Afterall, we just moved into this house. After a few days of unpacking and settling in, it'll start to feel more homey." She explained. "But I get what you mean. The walls do look a lot darker then before." She glanced over at some of the walls and then back to her nervous friend. Colby sighed and nodded, feeling a bit better after she said that. Maybe she was right? Maybe it's just the paranoia of a new house.
Suddenly Oscar and Oliver let out an excited scream from downstairs.
"There's a basement down here!"
"But it's locked!!" They spoke. Gazing at the white door with baby blue flowers. Probably the only thing in the house that was not ocean themed. Colby shook his head and stood by Ellie.
"A basement?" He turned to Ellie in confusion." You didn't tell us there was a basement." He stated, making Ellie shrug her shoulders.
"I wasn't told when I bought the place, so I didn't know,¨she answered. Colby hummed in understanding. "Anyways, I'm going to bed. See you guys in the morning!" Ellie chirped and waved to them. Starting her walk to her new room.
"Wait, Ellie hold on!" Colby called out to her, but she was already gone. The twins popped their heads in from around the corner.
"Did she leave?" They asked. Colby only nodded. The duo copies looked at each other then shrugged. Disappearing again to explore the house some more before they go to bed.
A few hours later, the remaining housemates decided to call it a day from unpacking and finally went to their respective rooms to go to bed. The twins' room in the left hall and Colby in the right hall with Ellie's. However, Colby got thirsty in the middle of the night and got up to get a cup of water from the kitchen. As he sleepily walked down the hall in his pajamas, he suddenly got chills all over his body.
"C-cold! Why is it s-so cold?" He chattered, rubbing his arms for warmth as he continued his path down to the kitchen. "Maybe the heater isn't on.." He guessed, but on his way, Colby noticed the walls once more. The deep dark blue, almost black walls, seemed to shift like flowing water as he walked down the stairs, and the sea stars of the sea star and moon patterns appeared like they were alive and squirming. It made Colby sick to his stomach with uneasiness. So he looked down and forward, trying his best not to glance at the walls again.
Finally, he made it to the kitchen with a heavy sigh. When he looked back at the walls, they appeared normal.
"Must still be my paranoia from moving in." He muttered to himself, remembering Ellie's comforting words. Then proceeded to grab a glass cup from the cupboard, filling it with cool water from the kitchen sink. As Colby took a sip, he immediately spat it out and coughed. "S-salt water?!" He shouted, confused. Still spitting and coughing out the salty taste in his mouth. "It's supposed to be tap water! Normal, drinkable, tap water!" Then a wave of chilly air seemed to hit him again. Sending a shock of discomfort down his spine. "A-again? W-why is it so-" Colby stopped as he took a second's glance at the staircase. It made his gut twist in ways that felt impossible. Colby's honey brown eyes started to well up with tears as he slowly let his doubt and fear consume him. So the image before him became blury and slightly distorted.
Gliding down the staircase was what seemed to be a giant, transparent floating figure, with long thread-like strands gliding behind it. Glowing a soft, light blue glow.
"No.." Colby muttered, taking a shaky step back away from the doorway leading to the staircare. "It's.. I-it's just paranoia. I'm imagining things." He tried to convince himself, rubbing his watery eyes," It's not real." Forgetting about the cup of salt water in his hand as it hit the ground and broke into many shards. One shard bouncing away and cut right above this ankle. Colby yelped at the sudden contact and looked down. The cut wasn't bleeding, thankfully, it just grazed him. However, his sudden yelp alerted the seemingly blurry figure. For it turned to him and froze in its place, as if observing him. Making Colby freeze as well, tears sliding down his tanned cheeks. Then it started to drift it's way over to the frightened male, making him stagger back with heavy feeling limbs.
"S-stay back!" He cried, but it did nothing. Suddenly, the figure went from glowing a soft light blue shade to an alarming red color as it rushed at him with four arm shaped limbs. Letting out a cry of what sounded like a whale. Colby let out a scream of terror as he shut his eyes tight, letting darkness be the only comfort in this time
