Regina and I are still in the kitchen. She's just finishing up cleaning my forehead and putting a bandaid on it when Zelena came walking in. "Oh dear god those sangrias and tequila shots really knock you on your ass". She opens the refrigerator and gets a bottle of water and starts looking through the kitchen cabinets. "Zelena what the hell are you looking for?" "Aspirin. Don't tell me that you don't have any in this damn house". "It's in the first cabinet that you opened Zelena. Second shelf. Open your damn eyes". "Well excuse me Miss cranky pants. I'll just take some aspirin and go to my room". "Zelena just". Regina hits my arm and shakes her head no to shut me up. Zelena takes the aspirin and leaves the kitchen. "Ok my love you are all set now". "Thanks babe and I'm sorry again. I was only trying to have a little fun. I would never have driven, I had been drinking and definitely never ever with you and our baby in the car". "I know that Emma. I do believe you, but at the time I really thought you were going to drive and then I got so angry and I am totally blaming it on the pregnancy hormones. So I'm sorry if I may have over reacted". "I'll tell you what, I'll forgive you if you forgive me". She gives me a kiss and says. "Deal my love. So moving on, Zelena seemed a little hungover, or was it just me". "No Regina I think your right. I only had like 2 and a half glasses of the sangria but Zelena drank the rest of it, and then there was the double shot of tequila". "Yes but you definitely were in better shape than my sister". "Yeah, well I did always have a high tolerance for alcohol, but I sear Regina I'd rather walk than drive. I always want to be here for you and our baby and if we are lucky enough, all of our future babies. Plus I don't think I could live with myself if I hurt some innocent person because I was driving drunk. I have to much to live for Regina". I kiss her and we hug. "Babe I am really". "Stop Emma. I know. It's ok. Let's move on ok please?" "I would like that a lot". We kiss again and Regina yawns. "Would you like to go take a nap babe?" "Oh yes please my love". "Then let's go babe". I grab us each a bottle of water and we walked upstairs and into our bedroom. We changed into something comfortable and got into bed. We snuggled together and took a little nap. It was only mid afternoon so we should be up around dinner time.
Saturday- Wedding Day
I wake up too early in the morning. I had trouble sleeping last night. I kept thinking about everything that was going to be happening today. I'm not really nervous I just I hope everything goes well today. I go into my bathroom and do my normal morning routine then I come out to get get dressed. I call downstairs to Granny's diner just to make sure Regina isn't there. Zelena and Ruby dragged me here last night because of the traditional thing about not seeing the bride before the wedding. I didn't want to but I respected that Regina thought the traditional idea was probably a good thing. I hate not sleeping next to her. Granny answers the phone and tells me that Regina isn't there and it was safe to come down". I hung up the phone and made sure I had my wallet and room key and went downstairs to the diner. I wasn't that hungry but I needed to eat something and definitely have some coffee. I wanted to sit in my usual booth but I decided to sit at the counter just Incase Regina comes in. I don't want to break the tradition with only a few hours left till the wedding. Ruby came out from the kitchen looking a little tired. We went out for a few drinks last night. I only had about 3 beers and 2 shots then I came back to the B&B. I didn't want to be hungover today. "Hey Rubes how you feeling today?" "Ems why didn't you drag me out of the Rabbit Hole last night?" "I tried but you said you'd be fine". "Next time pull me by the hair and make me leave". "Ruby I swear if you are sick while Regina and I get married tonight I'll never speak to you again. Your supposed to stand up for me and keep me sane. How the hell are you gonna do that hungover?" "I'll be fine Emma". She says and then yawns. I'm pretty pissed off and I stand up quickly. "Damn it Ruby". "Ems just relax. I'll be fine tonight. It's like 10 hours before the wedding". "Right and you'll be working all day and you'll be exhausted by 7 when Regina and I are supposed to me married. Thanks for this Ruby. Just forget it. I don't need anyone standing up for me when I get married. I'll do this alone, just like I've done almost everything in my life. Thanks again Ruby". I leave the diner and go back up to my room. I'm really pissed off but I'm not surprised. Not much in my life goes right. I get my keys and leave to drive over to McDonald's. It's actually just across the town line and I'm about 95% sure that Regina would absolutely not come here. I go inside and order. I get a toasted English muffin with sausage and cheese. Definitely no egg. I like eggs but I don't like fast food eggs. I also get 2 hash brown patties and a large ice coffee with 3 sugars and milk. I got it to eat in their dinning area. I brought a newspaper to read while I was there. When I get my food I take my tray over to the condiment station, get a few napkins, a few ketchup packets for the hash brown patties. A fork, knife and spoon. I find a nice small table by the window so I can look out and she whats going on outside. I then flip through the newspaper and come to the horoscopes. I read mine and Regina's. Lucky they were both positive. I decide to send my almost wife a text. "Hey babe. I know we aren't supposed to see each other right now but I hope it's ok to text. I hated not sleeping next to you last night but I can't wait till you are my wife. I love you so much babe. Please give our baby a good morning kiss from me". Since the moment I found out Regina was pregnant, I make sure to give her a kiss and her baby belly a kiss every morning and every night before we go to sleep. A few minutes later I get a text back from her. "Oh Emma I missed you so much last night and this morning. I know you kissed both of us before you left yesterday so I made sure to talk to our baby so he or she knew why you couldn't be here with us last night". "Thank you Gina. I really appreciate that. I love you both so much". "You are welcome my love. How did you sleep last night?" "Crappy babe. I hate not being next to you". "I'm sorry my love. Are you having breakfast at Granny's now?" "No. I actually got into an argument with Ruby so I left. We went out for a few drink last night. I left early but she stayed and now she's hungover and working. I told her I didn't need her to stand up for me that I'd do this alone just like everything else I've done". A few moments later my phone rings and it's Regina. "Hey babe". "Hello my love. What happened with you and Ruby?" "Well it was just like I wrote in the text. I left early and she stayed and got drunk. I'm fine though. I'm not afraid to stand there all by myself and marry the woman I love and who is my absolute best friend". I hear nothing but quiet on the phone. "Regina? Babe? Are you still there?" I finally hear a sniffle. "Babe is that you?" "Yes my love. I'm here. I'm sorry. I just loved everything you just said Emma. Are you sure you don't need Ruby with you tonight?" "Yeah I'm sure babe. I just need you". "Ok sweetheart just try to mend things with Ruby. I know how close you both have been". "Gina babe I'm sure things will work out eventually but I can't focus on that now. Today is all about us". "Ok Zelena calm down I'm wake damn it. Just go to the kitchen and I will be there in a few minutes. Oh god that woman is infuriating. I wish you were here to keep me calm Emma". I'm just a phone call away babe. I'll do anything to help you whenever you need it". I believe you my love but I need to check on Zelena now she's like an over grown child". We both laugh as we say our goodbyes for now. I put my phone down on the table and finish looking through the newspaper. I read a few nice stories about the recreation center they are building for the kids in Storybrooke. I think that's just awesome. When I was done I gather all my trash and my newspaper then throw my empty food wrappers away. I get back in the short line to get another ice coffee. Once I receive it I get a spoon make sure things are nice and mixed up. I put the cover back on and go back over to the B&B. I go into my room and see some nice flowers and a card in front of the vase. I smile thinking it's from Regina. I sit down at the table where the flowers are. I open the card and read it. It was actually from Ruby. Apologizing for earlier and being hungover. She asked me to call her when I was ready. I'll think about it but for now I just want to rest and maybe watch some tv for a while before I have to get ready. About a half hour later There is a knock at my door. I roll my eyes. "Oh what the fuck? I'm trying to relax". I say quietly out loud. I get up and open the door. Ruby is on the other side of the door. "Ruby please I'm not in the mood right now. I'm trying to chill out before I have to get ready". "This won't take long Emma. First I just wanted to say I'm sorry if I may have let you down. Granny heard what happened and was totally pissed. She made me leave working at the diner early. I'm going to try to be responsible in the future. I completely understand that you don't want me by your side today. I did let you down". "Thanks Rubes. The flowers are beautiful and the card is very nice". There was an awkward silence between us for a bit then Ruby says. "Well I guess I'll go back to my room. Please call me if you need anything". I nod and then she walks away. I close the door and flop down into the chair. I sit and think for about 30 minutes. "Damn it I guess I should go see Ruby". I leave my room and go to Ruby's. I knock on the door and when it opens Ruby is standing there with watering eyes. She must have been crying. "Emma your here?" "Yeah. Hey". She invites me in and we sit at the table in her room. "So Ems what brings you here?" "I wanted to see what kind of shape you are in just in case I change my mind about you standing by my side as I marry Regina". She gives me a big smile. "I'm good Emma. I feel fine actually. I was able to get some sleep, I had something to eat and I just took a nice relaxing shower". "That's good Rubes. I'm glad your feeling better. So it's no secret that I was very disappointed with you this morning Ruby". She looks down at the floor and just nods in understanding. "Before we even went out last night Ruby I asked you more than once to please take it easy with the drinking". "I know you did Emma and the only thing I can say is that I'm sorry and I hope that you will be able to forgive me one day". "I'm not going to lie Ruby, it may take me some time to fully trust you like before". "I understand Emma". "Before I go back to my room to start getting ready I need to ask you a serious question. If I ask you to stand up for me when I get married can I count on you? Will you be ok during the reception and promise me not to get drunk and make a fool out of yourself and embarrass me and my wife?" "I can promise you Emma I will be better than good. Besides Granny will be there and would kill me, have someone revive me just so she could kill me again". I have to let out a small laugh at that because it's so very true. "One more promise. No shots tonight Ruby because that's where everything goes downhill with you and I won't have that ruining my wedding". She holds up her right hand. "I promise Emma. No shots". I'm quiet for a moment then say. "I'm trusting you Ruby but if you let me down that's it we are done. We can still work together and have very limited conversation but we will never be close again. Do you understand that?" "I do Emma. I won't let you down". I nod and look at what time it is. I stand up. "I gotta go get ready Ruby. The limo will be here at 6:30 so make sure your ready". "I will". We hug and I leave her room.
