I, after slinking through practically every back alleyways, slipped through Rustboro City without anyone seeing me. That has become one of my signature skills, slinking through a major city without people caring.
I was going to my second favorite spot near my home. Route a hundred and fifteen. Even though there is no simple outlet into the rest of the world, unless you have a pokemon that knows surf, most of my father's assists would not think of looking for me. It had worked so far, hopefully it works for me today.
I decided to simply hide under one of the large oak trees and read the book I had been trying to read all day.
Of course, the world seemed to have a thing against me reading at all.
"Hey watcha reading?" A particular annoying person questioned.
"Do you want to be on the other side of my fist again?" I threatened.
"You know I saved your butt back there" said annoying person sat down next to me. "The least you could do is pretend that you cared enough to thank me"
I slammed my book closed "Thank you Wallace, thank you for once again interrupting me reading, thank you for bothering me to the point of snapping at you, oh and thank you the most for helping me get another person in my life who wants to beat me up. So yes Wallace I have a lot to thank you for, now leave me alone!" I spat.
"Nope" Wallace replied.
I gave him a hostile glare "What?" I growled.
Wallace faced me with a determined look in his eyes "I said no, I'm not leaving you alone." he smiled "You need a friend, so I'm volunteering to be here for you!" Wallace smiled. "Oh and I haven't formally introduced myself. My name is Wallace, I'm Juan's apprentice, I've worked with him since I was ten. I hope to become a contest master, and one day take over his gym. What about you?"
"My name is Steven, you should know that by now" I gave him a glare. "My goal is to finish this book before I am thirty, if people would let me. Also be a waste of time and effort to all those around me. I do not want you to be my friend, heck I do not even want to be breathing the same air as you. No go away, never come back. Oh and if you want to take your master with you that would be much appreciated." I spat.
"You talk weird" Wallace informed.
I looked at him stunned, I had just threatened him, mocked him, called him worthless, yet the only thing he had to say was I talk weird? what kind of drugs is this guy on anyway?
He started laughing. "What?" I questioned.
"The look on your face was hilarious!"
"That is it!" I shouted.
I stalked back to my house, completely forgetting about my book, not caring who saw me go through town, pretending not to hear anyone shout at me. I slammed the door into our large mansion. It looked like a apartment complex from the outside.
"Master Stone, please refrain from slamming the doors" our butler pleaded.
I shrugged "Is my father home yet?" I asked.
The butler sighed "He called to inform me that he wouldn't be home this evening. He plans on accompanying Juan back to Sootopolis and that he wishes to speak with you the moment he gets home" The butler dipped his head and scurried off. Running away from what he though would be me snapping at him.
I decided against that and simply decided to go to my room. Call me simple but I preferred not to have one of the larger rooms in the house, I did not have any electronics in my room. No televisions or gaming devices, I wanted to be simple. The walls were painted silver, with hard wood floors. I had a small bed, massive book shelf, and a small desk in my room and that's it.
I flopped onto my bed, took the single poke ball off of my belt, and called out my partner. A shiny Beldum who had been through everything with me.
"Sorry buddy, I could not have you out in the office. You know that" I smiled at the almost angry looking bell pokemon.
He, I know that Beldum are genderless, but I feel bad about simply calling him an it all the time. He gave me an look that almost said 'but I was lonely all day, master'
I smiled at the one eyed pokemon "Well your out now, if you want I could tell you about my 'wonderful' day"
He flopped down on the bed next to me, snuggled himself under my left arm, and looked at me with his bright red eye as if saying 'go on'.
"Well I met the eight gym leader today, also his apprentice Wallace. Juan, the gym leader, hates me since I lost my temper with his apprentice after he petted me. I mean who decides to pet someone to try making them feel better?" I yelled.
"Bell Bell!" the pokemon cried.
"Not counting you" I stroked the pokemon's white back. "You like affection, it does not matter who gives it to you" I mocked the pokemon. He nudged my arm as if to say 'continue'. "Wallace then defended me, which has never happened before. Then I left Devon Corps, went to my favorite hiding spots the pokemon gave the look of 'and you did not let me out!' "I would have if Wallace had not found me, I even threatened him and he still would not leave me alone!" I bolted up and began pacing.
"I mean yes it would be nice to have someone my own age to talk to. But being with me would be a waste of time for him, he has a dream and ambitions. I have money, no ambitions, oh and a Beldum as a best friend! I am slipping old friend. I am slipping and I have no one that I can call for help" I slinked back into my bed. I curled up with the cold feeling steel type pokemon. For the first time since my mother left, I felt defeated. "I should not feel anything. I do not have the right to feel anything, I do not have the right to even be breathing right now." I looked over at my desk, I had an old knife my father gave me there. "If I dies would anyone notice?" I asked my Beldum.
He looked upset at me for even asking him that. I patted his forehead "It is for you that I do not do anything stupid, do you know that Beldum?" I cooed.
