Going to fancy parties and talking to annoying rich people is something that I would try to avoid. If not for this being a party for Wallace becoming the eighth gym leader, I would have just ditched or sent someone in my place. But for my best friend here I stood, my first major event as the Hoenn champion, forced to give a farewell speech for the man who hates me more than anything else. All of the gym leaders and elite four came to this even, along with some league benefactors, and surprisingly me.

I sighed and sipped the wine, that I was not exactly old enough to be drinking, wishing this event would end quickly so I could go back to doing something productive. So far, Wallace seemed too busy trying to 'discreetly' kiss Winona, Sidney was testing how much booze he could handle, Drake looked like he was thinking of ways to kill Sidney, Glacia was off somewhere reading, and Phoebe was hitting on some younger man. Leaving me to deal with anyone who seemed curious about the new champion.

Currently one of the duchesses that was friends with Juan was explaining to me why she prefers contests over simple battles. I would not have minded the woman had she not spent most of her time flirting with me.

"So how do you feel about this champion?" She batted her eyelashes.

"I think I need to get Sidney away from the booze." I muttered. Drinking my half full glass of wine in one swig. I gave her one of my apparently 'well known' smiles and apologized for having to leave.

Without another word slinked over to Sidney and grabbed his most recent glass out of his had, which was full, and practically drank it like a shot. "Arceus I hate parties!"

"Geez Stone, you shouldn't drink like that!" Sidney's red eyes watched me carefully. "Otherwise people will think you're taking after me!" He laughed.

I set the glass down, crossed my arms over my chest, and turned away from him. "I just spent the last hour with a women I have never met practically jumping into my pants, I am sure you know that feeling right." I smirked at him. "But then again!"

He playfully punched my arm "You're a bastard, you know this right?"

Phoebe slabbed the back of Sid's head. "If anyone here's a bastard it's you!" she wrapped her arms around my left arm and looked up at me with her gentle blue eyes. "Steven's a good man, you could learn a thing or too from him!"

Over the past month of being champion, Sidney has become the problem child I have had to scold from time to time yet he knows that I am merely joking with him, Phoebe has become like a little sister who looks up to me and for some reason has clung to me. Glacia acts like I barely exist which she does to everyone. Drake I feel like is a mentor, he has helped me transition from being a normal trainer to the champion.

"He should be a good man, I've raised him right, I hope." My father added as he walked over to us. More than having a few more grey hairs, he almost looks the same as the last time I saw him.

"Dad." I smiled.

He shooed Phoebe off of me and hugged me. "You look pretty damn good son."

"Dad!" I whined as Sidney snickered.

He let go of me and ruffled Sidney's strange pointy hair. "I see little Sid hasn't changed since you became a member of the elite four."

Now it was my turn to laugh at Sid, Phoebe lightly punched my stomach I pretended to be hurt. She smiled at my father and initiated a hug with him. "It's good to see you again Mr. Stone, I haven't seen you since the last time you, the old champion, and Juan would have your meetings. You seem to look better since then."

"Of course my dear, my lazy ass son has finally done something with his life, the worry lines are gone from my face now!"

My face turned bright red. "Damn straight!" Wallace mocked. My father gave him a look for the language. "I mean darn straight sir, yeah that's what I meant." he scratched the back of his head.
