All I did in the Seedling Campus was training... Even at night, even it’s beyond our curfew, I still go to the training grounds. I made myself anti-social. Not because I hate interacting with others, I just avoid having friends because I don’t want to feel that loss. When the Saltahs entered Nowhere, the day I lost mom, dad, and Aim, almost all of my friends got killed. I witnessed hell at the age of 10. How unfortunate I am.

“Just one more evaluation... I’ll be out here.” I said to myself.

It has been 5 years since that incident. I can still hear the children’s cries, the painful screams, the deafening explosions. I can still the view of ryms dying, my father, uttering his last words, and that black-winged killer that threw a knife to my father. I can tell he’s in the same age as I am, but why is he out there killing someone else’s father? At such a young age, why is he already part of that?

I can still feel mother’s hug, Aim holding my hand, and father’s kisses.

“Adriana and Kurt for the next evaluation, step in the arena!”

Students cheered.

“This is the battle I’m waiting for!”

“Who do you think will win?”

“Oh my! It’s the most awaited fight!”

I heard lots of questions and comments as I walk towards the battle field. I am now going to take the final evaluation. I have to win this thing, then I may get my licence as a Vanguard. If I do, I’ll be the youngest Vanguard. I’m now 15 years old. Most of the graduates every year take a break for 3 years before getting their licence. But I can’t wait that long. The law says after passing the last evaluation after your 5 years of training, you may have your licence for the job appropriate for your results. My heart is full of vengeance, my mind is filled with questions.

“Don’t worry Adriana. I’m a man, you’re just a girl. I’ll take it easy.”

The moment Kurt and I reached the battlefield, the crowd cheered and made louder noises.

“Give me all you’ve got.” I’ll make you eat your words Kurt. Don’t underestimate me. I may be a girl, but I made myself strong. Even I still don’t fly high until now, I know I can still win this thing.

“My experience is superior to yours. I’ve witnessed hell, Kurt. My emotional strength is beyond everyone else’s. Get ready to be killed.” Of course, I’m kidding. I won’t kill him, I’d be disqualified. I’d just break a bone or two.

“THREE...”

He let his wings out. I hid my wings.

“Right. You’re flightless. You won’t need your wings. Ha! Ha! Ha!”

“TWO...”

He’s back is open. I will go for his wings first.

“Watch your mouth Kurt.”

 “ONE...”

Then I’ll break his leg so he’ll be unable to run.

“Oh well...”

“FIGHT!”

In a blink of an eye, I was already behind Kurt, I drew my sword and cut his right wing. Then, I used my developed tigrine. I focused 10% of my bollix to my left leg, 90% to my right leg and kicked his thigh hard. Kurt was thrown 20 meters away.
