Chapter 8 - People Dying Within My Sight

The place was much more beautiful than I thought. I thought of spiky plants, dried soil, walls with webs, dirty environment, heartless people, chaotic land, but it was all the opposite. I was quite shocked when I got my sight back. It was more like a paradise. The ryms looked normal ones,  I don’t even sense evil in their auras.

“It’s cold...” I whispered as I looked around. Where is Professor Oliver? All I saw was several soldiers of the Takkhas, guarding me.

The tree I am now tied up is tall and wide. Based on what I have had studied, It is the largest tree of all, an Era tree. They are forbidden to be cut. Years ago, the Researches in Nowhere discovered that eating a branch of this tree will give you immortality. It was proven when they made a chimera eat it. When some people tried to do so, they puked it out. It tasted horrible. It was awful. This research quickly spread to every nation, thus, in the whole Flyrym. But one day, an unknown man ate this and bared its taste. He was able to swallow it. His throat was injured that caused him not to be able to talk anymore. But in exchange, he became immortal. It is said that this man came from Somewhere.

It was just a story, though. It happened thousands of years ago.

I was surprised when a boy, probably in the same as I, went to untie me.

“Flin?! What are you doing?!” exclaimed his fellow soldiers. He didn’t listen. He didn’t even talk back.

“Are you okay Adriana?” He untied me and helped to get up. He held my hand. It somehow made me remember someone. I looked into his eyes. His presence... was comfort. His presence was familiar. I feel like I knew him before.

“It is already decided Hugo. We’ll treat this lady with care. She’s Maxine and Myron’s daughter!” said an old man. This boy who untied me suddenly hugged me! I was so shocked that I suddenly held his arm, twisted it and flipped him down.

“I’m... I’m sorry! I...”

“It’s okay! It’s okay!”

He stood up, trying to act normal though I know that his right arm and back are hurting. The men around us laughed and suddenly went to shake hands with me.

“You never changed Adriana!”

 

“You’re really Iana!”

What are they talking about? It’s as if they already knew me!

“It seems that you don’t remember me Iana...”

“Where am I?!” This boy called Flin extended his hand, like, asking me to hold it.

“Let me show you.” He smiled at me. I don’t know but my lips worked by itself. I grinned and held his hand.

We walked for about an hour.

The place we went to was somewhat familiar. It’s a huge lake. There are lots of fireflies that lights up the surroundings. There are cherry blossoms around, leaves are falling. The setting was romantic.

“Adriana! Over here.”

He ran towards Era tree. With just a snap, I was already beside the tree. I even made it before him! I don’t know what’s happening to me. Maybe this is the result of the heavy things I’ve been wearing. I must learn to control my speed and strength. Because of my lack of control, I... I... I have killed someone. I had cut someone’s head.
