"I could've died on that pavement, every time I see my mom, I be like wait a minute." Meek Mill sang into his ears as he stopped at the stop sign down the block.
He huffed, peeling his shirt off placing it around his neck. Once the crack of sunshine slightly blinded his eyes, it was time for Hondo to head back home.
After last night from his baby momma to Kane, he barely slept. The night was spent with him and Asta as he watched every single episode of Blue's Clues. Once He was fully sure that Asta was sound asleep, he slipped on his gym shorts and sneakers and did the only thing that helped him most of the time, run.
He wiped his forehead, glancing at his watch, seeing him run six miles.
He felt completely better than last night, mentally preparing himself for anything Kane would try at him. Kane knew how Hondo felt when it came to having uninvited guests in his home. It didn't matter if he was living there as well if they weren't along the people that he initially said would walk into his house; they were a complete threat.
The smell of bacon instantly made him pick up the pace. It barely been a week and he was already accustomed to Zela's cooking, reminding him of home sometimes. He still couldn't wrap his head around how well she handled Asta, even though he had some hard times with him.
His stomach growled as he walked into the house, hearing music softly played in the living room. He watched as Asta eyes focused on Zela as she swayed to the soft beats as she plated breakfast barely noticing Hondo in the living room watching her.
"Here I am, I don't understand, you just came around and stole my heart," She sang as she held the tongs towards her lips giving Asta the private show as his smile boosted her own self confidence.
She kneeled down in front of him as she smiled, "Come on Asta, I didn't mean to baby, I didn't mean to fall in love, I didn't need you baby, tell me we'll never be apart. You just came around and stole my heart."
"So you really feel that way?" Hondo asked as both Zela and Asta turned his direction.
Zela stood quickly, turning and grabbing the already made breakfast for Hondo, setting it on the small island before turning back to cleaning the rest of the dishes.
Zela was already dead embarrassed that Hondo already had to witness her that way and wasn't trying to embarrass herself any more than she did.
"I hope Asta didn't wake you," Hondo asked as he mixed his eggs and grits taking a spoonful into his mouth.
"No, I wish you woke me up when you left though." She returned as she glanced over at Hondo who continued to devour his breakfast like it was his last, "Imagine a baby waking up and not seeing where his daddy went." She added as Hondo froze, setting his fork down.
Zela was up earlier because of the cries of Asta that filled the house. It didn't bother Zela, but with Ericka complaining every ten seconds, she took matters into her own hands. She saw Asta as he cried hysterically in a crib with a wet diaper, which made her morning start earlier than usual. She couldn't blame Hondo for doing what he did, but the least he could have done was wake her up and tell her to watch Asta.
