❝ Even if being friends is going to be hard,
at least have closure ❞_____________
She pursed her lips as she eyed the white handkerchief with the initials stitched on it. It's been a few days since she met the mysterious stranger and she couldn't get him out of her mind. 'Will I... ever meet you again?'
She sighed, then walked towards her window seat. She grabbed a pillow and hugged it close to her body. Her eyes shifted to her window, watching as a car pulled up to the house in front of hers. She let out a deep breath as she watched two figures from the car get out. She recognized them as Xiaojun and his lover.
"I'm stupid... I just had to ruin it for myself," She said, pulled her legs up and rested her chin on her knees. She heard their laughs from her window as they walked towards their front door. She gulped then looked up towards the ceiling, blinking back the tears that stung her eyes.
She would be lying if she didn't say that she wasn't hurt by it. She lost her best friend—and her first love—but losing her best friend ached more. She wanted to go back and redo everything, but it was too late. She just wanted everything to go back to the way it was.
She looked down at her feet, drifting into her thoughts about the mysterious stranger. She wanted nothing more than to meet him again. He intrigued her.
"Will we meet again?" She asked herself as she watched her neighbors walked around with their family. Her eyes lit up as she watched a familiar figure on the other side of the street.
She quickly stood up and grabbed the handkerchief from her dresser. She ran out of the house and into the sidewalk, only to find it empty. She sighed in disappointment, then stuffed the handkerchief in the pocket of her hoodie.
"It must've been my imagination," She said, sighing in defeat.
"What's up with you?" She flinched and lifted her head to see her twin brother.
"It's nothing," She said, running her hands through her hair. She walked towards the couch and collapsed on it.
"Is it Xiaojun?" He asked, sitting next to her. "I heard you guys aren't talking. What happened?"
"I... I don't wanna talk about it," She said, bitting the inside of her cheek.
"Tell me when you're ready then." He patted her head reassuringly, making her burst out crying. He panicked and pulled her into a hug.
"I jeopardized our friendship cause I was a dumbass," She said, slightly choking on her words. "I don't think we'll be able to go back."
"I confessed, Jen..." She said, letting out a shaky breath. "I know it was stupid. He's not even into girls." She held back a sob and pushed her head into his chest.
