Jeno's eyes widened in realization. "The guy from the cemetery... how did I not notice?"
She ran up to the front desk, out of breath. "Excuse me!"
"Do you have a patient with these initials?" She asked, showing them the handkerchief.
"Do you know their first and last name?" The lady asked her.
She froze, unable to believe that she forgot something so important.
"No, but-"
"I'm sorry, sweetie, but we need the patient's name," The lady said, giving her a sad smile. She nodded, walking away in disappointment.
Renjun's heart sped up as he thought of seeing her again. He felt excited. He couldn't believe that she did wait and she's finally back. His heart pounded against his chest as he neared the hospital, not noticing he passed by her car as he pulled in.
She sighed in disappointment. 'Maybe he went back to the house...' She let out a breath of determination, speeding back to the house. She quickly ran out of the car, not bothering to park it properly. She ran in to find several pairs of eyes staring at her. She scanned the room, not being able to find the person she was looking for.
"Where is he?" She breathed out.
"He went to look for you," Mark said, amused at the situation.
Everyone in the room talked about the duo. Their unknown relationship with each other caught the group's interest. Jeno got up and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Maybe... you should wait for him here," He said, guiding her to a chair. She shook her head.
"No, I'll go to him. He went to the hospital, right?" She asked, making Jeno nod.
She ran out the door before he could protest. He let out a deep breath saying, "They're going to end up on a wild goose chase."
The others agreed as they watched her car drive off and another car pulled in. Renjun ran out of his car and slammed the door open.
"Is she here?" He asked, breathing heavily.
"You just missed her," Donghyuck said, taking a sip of his soda.
"You should sit and wait for her," Mark said, pointing to the chair. Renjun shook his head.
"I need to find her quickly," He said, running out. They all sighed.
"They're so stubborn," Jaemin said, shaking his head. The other agreed.
She sighed, disappointed by her trip to the hospital. She gave up and drove to the park, texting her brother about her whereabouts. Jeno sighed, pitting the two who drove back and forth just to find each other. He texted Renjun her location and smiled. 'I hope you finally see each other'
She sighed, walking towards the swing in disappointment. She kicked off slightly, making the swing creak as it swayed back and forth. She kicked at the sand, hoping that he'll come to her.
Renjun parked his car quickly and ran out of the car towards the park entrance. He stopped a few feet away from her. He gulped as he noticed her figure. His heart started to beat fast as he took a step forward. She turned her head, sensing his stare.
She sat there with her mouth agape. A wave of happiness flooded her body, unable to believe her eyes. She sprung up and ran full speed towards him with her heart beating against her chest loudly. It felt as if she was going in slow motion, and the distance between them was grand.
She slowed down, matching his pace. Their hearts pounded harder and louder against their chest with each step they took, feeling as if they were walking in slow motion. It felt like they were the only two in the world. They focused on each other, not bothering to glance at the others in the park.
They finally made it in front of each other. They stood there, staring at each other, tongue-tied, unable to speak. They couldn't hear anything but their heart pounding against their ears. She gulped before opening her mouth slowly.
"Hi," She whispered as her breathing quickened.
She felt nervous. Her palms were sweaty and there was a tingly feeling in her stomach. She didn't know what it was. She couldn't understand her feelings. It was new to her, was she possibly in love?
He felt the same. He felt nervous, unable to reply to her greeting. He felt as if he'd mess up if he opened his mouth. He couldn't understand why he was feeling this way. Why he suddenly felt nervous around her?
He finally built up the courage and said, "Hey."
They broke out into smiles and tears filled their eyes. Their vision got blurry, unable to process it. They were finally back together after so many years. Their tears fell down their faces, one-by-one.
She couldn't help but noticed how he got even more handsome. He noticed the same thing, her hair was a bit longer, and she was glowing. He noticed how her eyes sparkled as she looked up at him.
She took a piece of cloth from her pocket and held it out. "I believe this is yours."
He took it from her hand, thanking her. She nodded, smiling wide.
"I think I owe you an introduction," He said, smiling back.
He held out his hand towards her saying, "My name is Renjun, Huang Renjun."
"Nice to finally meet you, handkerchief boy, or should I say, Renjun," She said, holding out her hand. "Jina, Lee Jina."
They shook hands while tears began to fall down their face. Everything still felt like a dream to them that they wished would never end. They stood there, staring at each other as the wind blew. Renjun walked close to her, cupping her cheeks. His eyes dropped down to her lips then to her eyes before pulling her into a kiss. Their lips moved in sync. They felt the passion that they poured into the kiss.
They pulled away and pressed their foreheads together as they stared at each other's eyes. She laughed at him before pulling him into a hug. Their hair and clothes flew as the wind hit them. The flowers from a tree nearby danced as it dropped, making the moment even more beautiful.
Who knew a simple handkerchief would start such a beautiful relationship with two people...
