❝ I miss you so much... is it selfish for me to think
that I wish it was someone else, not you? ❞_____________
March 23
"Happy birthday... I miss you," She said as she stared at the calendar. She sighed, playing with the piece of metal that hung from her neck. She turned her head towards the door as she heard a knock.
"Hey... you ready?" Jeno asked, smiling sadly. She nodded and swung her handbag over her shoulder.
She stopped in her tracks as her eyes landed on a picture frame. She walked towards her dresser, dragging her fingers across the picture, and smiled softly. She felt someone's presence behind her as they placed their hands on her shoulder.
"I remember that," Jeno said, staring at the photo. It was a picture of a woman carrying a little girl while holding a little boy's hand. They all looked happy with each other.
"I miss her so much..." She said with a sniff. Jeno pulled her close to him and rubbed her shoulders.
"I know... I do too," He said, letting go of her. "We should get going. We can't keep dad waiting."
She nodded, following him out the door. Jeno drove them to the cemetery, where they saw their father in front of a headstone. She averted her eyes from her crying father. Her heart broke at the sight of it. Out of all of them, he took it the hardest. She sighed and followed Jeno out of the car.
She slowly walked towards her father and hugged him. She rested her head on his chest, refusing to let her tears fall.
"I'll wait for you guys over there, okay?" He said, kissing her forehead. She nodded and faced the headstone.
"You should go first," She said to Jeno, following after her father. She stood next to her father and rested her head on his shoulder. He smiled softly at her and stroked her hair.
"I miss her..." She said as tears sprang up in her eyes.
"I do too," He said in an almost inaudible voice.
She watched as Jeno kneeled and placed his forehead on the stone. 'It's all my fault...' She thought as she watched him sob uncontrollably. Her mom's death affected her whole family hard, especially her.
She averted her heads to the ground. She took a deep breath while her eyes were close to keep herself from breaking down. Jeno walked towards them and placed his hand on her shoulder, signaling her that it was her turn.
"You guys should probably go home- it'll take me a while," She said, giving them hugs.
"Just call me when you need a ride, okay?" Jeno said, patting her head. She brought her hand up and gave him an okay signal.
