"Please...don't come any closer, I can't fight it!"
☆John stands across the street from the library. He is still in two minds whether to even cross the busy road and go inside. Toby had already told him not to, but John needed to see him, to explain, if nothing else.
John was also scared, well aware that he had been without blood now for 24 hours. He had never gone this long without a fix and didn't know how he would react in Toby's presence.
Well I guess there's only one way to find out!
As soon as a foot steps through the threshold of the library, John's senses are heightened. Toby is definitely here and more accurately, he is on the third floor. John shocks even himself. His senses had never been in tune like this before to the point he could locate someone quite a distance away.
John cautiously heads for level three, the pull getting stronger, dragging him to a room with a white door marked 'Staff Only'. He stares at the handle for a few minutes. Should he go in? What would happen if he did?
He closes his eyes and slowly turns the handle, gently pushing the door forward. His actions are silent, with anyone inside, unsuspecting he was entering the room. John opens his eyes and sees the back of Toby, with his oversized trousers, loose white shirt, messy hair. He has a necktie fastened around his neck, presumably to cover the injury inflicted by John. Toby is stirring a spoon around in a mug. John can smell tea.
He can also smell Toby. His aroma is intoxicating, a mixture of CK free, fabric softener and his own unique scent. The one of his sweet blood which coarses through him like a divine river.
John leans back on the door, causing it to click and makes Toby jump, dropping his spoon on the counter.
Toby turns around to see John standing, just a few feet away. "John!"
John squeezes onto the door handle as if to stop himself from getting closer to Toby. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."
"I told you not to come." Toby says with nervousness in his voice. "Just so you know, I have got pepper spray in my pocket."
John smiles. "That's actually a good idea." John's demeanor becomes more serious. "I promise I won't stay, I just needed to explain myself...your message, about the body."
"Look." Toby interrupts. "I'm not a police officer, I have no evidence. They'll think me crazy if I say what I think."
"And what do you think?" John asks with trepidation.
"I think you did it, I think you've done it before, a few times probably..." Toby sighs. "But I know that you don't mean to. You can't help it, but that doesn't make it right."
John looks down, still holding tightly to the door. "I hate myself Toby. I hate what I am, what I did to those people, what I nearly did to you."
John can feel his emotions getting the better of him. He needs to tell Toby how he feels. It hurts, but John comes to the realisation that no matter how much he wants to be with Toby, to carry on as before, the chances now are small. This might be his last chance to say it all. He uses all of his strength to look Toby in his big brown eyes...
"You pull me to you everytime I see you and I want you so much, not just on a vampire level, but on a human one too, but my kind of love will kill you! I'm dangerous, especially around you. And since what happened yesterday, I can't explain it, but I'm drawn to you even more, to the point that I only crave your blood, only you."
