" don't invite me in!"
☆John keeps on glancing at his watch. Ten minutes must have surely passed by now! He impatiently taps his foot on the floor.
Rowan now enters the room. "I heard you were here, is everything ok?"
John nods, "just need my blood testing one last time."
Rowan nods in recognition then heads over to speak to one of the other doctors. "Isla, can we test a sample now?"
"Yes, it's been ten minutes." The doctor nods and she picks up a ready made tray from the side with everything she needs.
John rolls up his sleeve, ready. He looks away, feeling the needle pierce his skin. "Ok it's done." The doctor says. She takes the small sample and hands it to Dr Bennett, who is poised and ready at the microscope.
The atmosphere within the clinical lab was now extremely tense, with John and the three doctors all eagerly awaiting the results in anticipation. And then the answer arrives.
"Ok, these cells read as 100% human." Dr Bennett leans back from the microscope.
"So...is that it? Am I actually a human?" John expresses so much hope in his voice. Please can this be true.
"Yes, according to all our previous tests, you should now stay this way. Welcome to the human race!" Rowan holds out his hand to shake John's.
John takes the hand and pulls Rowan in close for a hug patting his back. "Thank you so, so much!" John squeezes Rowan probably little too tight.
"Th...that's ok." Rowan pats John's back. John also acknowledges the other two doctors, who nod back.
"I'm gonna go!" John says with a spring in his step. As soon as he is outside, he gets out his phone and messages Toby
Hey...I'm coming to you now.
---^----
Toby for some crazy reason feels really nervous. It feels like some kind of first date. Seeing John in this new way, it was like they were starting again.
He only had twenty or so minutes before John would be here. Toby heads to his bathroom and freshens up. He looks down at his bare upper torso. His neck still looked a little sore, but it had at least healed. He heads to his room and pulls on a clean tshirt.
Toby didn't want to overthink this. He wanted to stay cool, calm and collected. He heads to his couch and sits...and waits.
----*----
John, currently on his bike, is racing through traffic to reach Toby's apartment. He weaves past buses and cars, his need to be with Toby so great that he feels like he may burst. If nothing else, John just wants to hold Toby close, to kiss his sweet lips. Anything else would be a bonus.
John pulls his bike along the side of Toby's building. He gets off and pulls his helmet from his head. He enters the apartment block and heads straight for the stairs, taking two at a time. He was now there. Standing behind the door.
John holds a breath, he can still feel a slight tingling within him. He can still sense the urgency to get on the other side of that door. He could still smell Toby's aroma. Was this right? Should he still be sensing these things?
He tries to shake off his doubts. Rowan had said it would work...it should work. He should be human. John raises his hand and is about to knock on Toby's door when his phone starts to buzz.
John looks down, pulling the phone from his pocket. It's Rowan. John wonders if he should answer. He doesn't want to hear any bad news, but knows he should answer.
"Rowan, hi."
"Where are you?"
"I'm about to see Toby...why?"
"Don't go in!"
"What?"
"I repeat, don't go in!"
"Why?"
"Because you are at 99% John. I got it wrong. I'm sorry."
"What does that mean?"
"It means you could still be a danger to him. ...it seems the missing one percent is...missing."
"Do I need to get more blood?"
"It's not as simple as that. You need his blood mixed with oxytocin."
"Oxytocin? What's that?"
"It's what is released when you orgasm...it's also known as the love potion."
John thinks to when they interacted in the garage. How Toby came as John bit into him and drank his blood.
"Rowan, I can't ask that of him. I won't."
Just then the door opens...
"Rowan I have to go..."
"Ask me what?" Toby is stood at the doorway. "I heard you talking. You need to ask me something. Ask me what?"
John is speechless. He doesn't know what to say. He can feel that familiar pull towards Toby. That urge to touch, to hold, to feel.
"Don't invite me in." John suddenly says.
"Why?" Toby drops his hands from the door.
"It's what's keeping you safe right now."
"But I thought you were cured, you are human!"
John starts to pace on his feet, getting restless. "It's not as simple as I....as we thought."
Toby looks at John. He can tell John is holding back on something. "Just ask me. You need to ask me something, so just ask me, please."
John holts his movements and looks Toby in his eyes. "I ...I need to feed from you again...as...as...."
"Just say it John!"
"Ok...Toby. I need to make you come."
Toby can feel his cheeks heat up. "Y...you need to make me...come?, like climax?"
"That's the missing piece, what's missing from your blood. It's the last piece of the puzzle."
Toby goes quiet. Looking down at John's feet.
"Toby don't let me in. If you do, I'm scared I'll go too far. I don't want to hurt you again....I'll just go." John turns to leave. Toby watches as he walks slowly away. Each step he takes further away from Toby, the more painful the whole situation gets.
"John...wait!"
John stops and turns to look at Toby. "John do you love me?"
He nods. "You know I do."
"I love you too and I trust you." Toby takes a step back from the door. "Hey...come in."
