Blood splattered everywhere. Shrieks of dragons echoed each other in different pitches and tones. He let a yelp as his spear was forced up a LeafWing soldier's chest. He couldn't help tear up, watching the green dragon's eyes widen, before falling lifelessly on his spear. Someone had jumped on his back, trying to claw his eyes out. He let a roar before flipping over, running away from the angry LeafWing.
He twisted his head to watch the battle, over the distance, the HiveWings began to light up trees by scraping rocks together, others proceeded to knock them down, while LeafWing dragged them away in protest. "Fight you coward!" A mostly black HiveWing growled at him, threatening him with a raised tail. He must of been one of those HiveWings with the stinger on their tail. He nodded, charging into the battle before tripping over a fellow SilkWing's tail, hitting his chin against a hard stone. He shook his head, for he was dizzy. Looking up, he could see Ex- Queen Monarch's terrified face, and besides her, Queen Wasp looked down at the battlefield, evil definitely radiated around her. He didn't like the aura. He definitely didn't like the calm look on her face, the evil selfish glint that shined in her completely black eyes.
Then she turned at him...
"AAAAAAAAAAAAH!" He roared, hitting his head against the ceiling of his cell, "Ow!" He rubbed the top of his head. He pushed off the silk he wrapped himself with, shaking it off his orange, mint green, and blue wings. The SilkWing yawned, stretching his arms before reaching out for his spear, wincing as it was still tattered with blood from the start of the Tree Wars, which was a year ago. Well by the moons, his mind muttered as he put on gray armor and decided it was best to go unarmed instead.
He flew out of his cell, wrinkling his nose as most of it was still unfinished. He was quite distracted, not realizing he was to bump in with someone. He let an oof before looking to the orange dragon in front of him. "Your screams woke me up, again." The orange dragon muttered, holding his spear firmly.
At first glance, you would have thought he was a HiveWing, bright orange and the color of burned tangerines, until you saw the butterfly wings and the snout of a SilkWing.
"Hey Sky," Region muttered nervously, "Sorry for waking you up, again. I had that same nightmare once more."
Firesky raise a brow. "Well aren't you terrified of Wasp," he commented before flying off towards the opening of Wasp Hive. Region and Firesky were from the same troop, not close, not friends (at least that's what it seemed). Region prayed to his ancestors that he wouldn't have to see the HiveWing queen today, just like he did everyday. After finishing, he flew after Firesky.
Region watched as SilkWings hurried into finishing up Wasp Hive, some bringing in parts of trees, others making a weird pigment that would allow the wood to stay intact. He frowned, noticing there were no HiveWings helping. He knew very well that they were in a lower rank than every HiveWing in Plantala, he knew it wouldn't be long till the HiveWings completely controlled them.
"Stop killing LeafWings! Stop killing LeafWings!" A mass crowd of protestors chanted in the middle of the hive, both HiveWings and SilkWings, mostly SilkWings. Region wished to join the group, completely agreeing with their cause, before he was dragged away by a HiveWing soldier.
"Don't pay attention to them, understand?" The dark red dragon hissed, raising his tail.
Region nodded almost immediately, "Yes I'll be going now," He replied quickly before hurrying behind Firesky. Both dragons landed on the savanna grass outside, companied with other SilkWing soldiers. He wrinkled his nose in horror, noticing a few others had twisted snouts, broken horns, and missing claws. Perhaps he's only been in three major battles, but all he got was a scar on his back, behind his wing. And he was grateful for that. He definitely didn't want his fine appearance to get ruined.
"Attention!" The HiveWing general commanded. All the SilkWings stiffened, except Region who grunted at the sudden back pain.
I must have slept crookedly again... He thought before forcing himself into a straight position. Firesky gave Region a look full of warning before his eyes shifted towards the HiveWing. Region snorted, looking at the general. The HiveWing was a dark orange, and had dark crimson red stripes the color of burning strawberries. Eyes the color of a bright summer sun glared into the rainbow of SilkWings, companied by translucent black wings that let off soft buzzing as they flapping quickly. Region's dark red antennas felt each wing beat, and were quite irritated of them, his orange talons twitching anxiously. The general's name was Ashmeadiella, nothing scary. He was serious though, and would make any disobedient SilkWing suffer if he wished to.
"I will be assigning you to different duties again. The LeafWings have been driven off around this area, and the soldiers from Jewel Hive are fighting them," Ashmeadiella mumbled, "That means some of you would be sent over there, while the others would guard every entrance and sky of Wasp Hive, under stood?" Wasp Hive was almost complete. Jewel Hive was only finished on the exterior, the inside of it was under construction. Besides these two, there was the Yellowjacket Hive, were all the SilkWing civilians were found for now as another Hive was being constructed.
"Yes sir," all of them said in union. Region sighed, again? When the SilkWing kingdom existed (before Wasp had it destroyed) he was one of Ex- Queen Monarch's personal guards. He was always busy, alerted and inspired by the Queen's announcements or movements. Now, he was like any other soldier or guardian. Monarch had been completely disappeared from his life.
"You three," Ashmeadiella said with a voice of authority, pointing at Region, Firesky, and a violet SilkWing with gold swirls on its wings and back, "You'll be guarding the entrance of the webs that connect with Jewel Hive." Region would have groaned if Ashmeadiella didn't glare at him. Well, at least Region still had a job. Every day there was less and less SilkWing soldiers, most turning into constructors or servants for the HiveWings. He shivered at the thought of serving a HiveWing. Yes, they may be part of the HiveWing monarchy now, but he'll rather be murdered by a LeafWing than hear every single order of a-
"Region!" Firesky growled, interrupting Region from his thoughts. He found Ashmeadiella frowning at the red SilkWing. Region scrambled after Firesky with a small, nervous laugh.
"Thanks for calling me out back there. I could have been dead meat," Region told Firesky as they flapped after the violet SilkWing. The webs that connected the seemed so far.
Firesky smiled. "It's always okay to save a life or two," he replied before gracefully flying off. Region looked around, hoping no HiveWing realized that.
