Emerald Forest
Y/N

"Woah..." I muttered under breath as I overviewed the incoming students hoping to apply for Beacon. "I didn't know Pyrrha Nikos would attend Beacon." I let out as I look up at Father.

"She is promising, isn't she?" He asks me as he sips out of his mug. I nodded as I looked at the other students. "Jaune Arc?" I queried as I stared at his past performance. "There's nothing about him..." I muttered.

"Come now, Y/N. Don't judge a book by its cover." Father called as I shrugged my shoulder. "Right," I replied as I gave his scroll back. I started playing around with one of my sticks as I heard incoming footsteps.

I look up to see Glynda. "The first-years will be here shortly." She announced to father. "Thank you, Glynda." He replied as he sipped his mug. I then remember Ruby and her silver eyes.

"Father. What did you say about silver-eyed people?" I ask out loud as he looks down at me. "Are you, perhaps, talking about Ruby Rose?" He queried as I nodded. "Silver-Eyed Warriors are legendary warriors who possess special abilities." Father explained as I shook my head.

"You said that the last time I asked..." I muttered. "Can't you tell me more?" I asked him as he sips out of his mug. "I'm afraid that's all I know, Y/N." Father uttered as he removed the mug from his lips.

"Go on one of the launch pads, Y/N. It's about time we start." Father told me as I stood up and walked to the one nearest to me. I looked behind me as I saw the first-year students. I noticed Ruby and Yang as they both wave to me with a smile.

I waved back. "Hey there. Name's Jaune Arc." Jaune greeted himself as I looked up at him. "Short, sweet, rolls off the tongue -- ladies love it!" He continued as he held his hand out. I smile and shook his hand.

"I'm Y/N." I introduced back as I smiled. "I hope we become great friends!" Jaune exclaimed as I nodded. "I bet we will." I replied as we turn to both Father and Glynda.

"For years, you have trained to become warriors, and today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest." Father started. "Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of "teams." Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates... today." Glynda explained.

"What? Aw..." I heard Ruby whimper. "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well." Father further explained. Ruby groaned in response.

"That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years." Father finished. "What?!?" Ruby cried. "See!" I heard an unfamiliar voice exclaim as I lean forward and saw a girl with orange hair. I looked to her right and saw a boy with long, ponytailed black hair. "I told you -- !"

"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest." Father cuts her off. "You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path... or you will die." He continued.

Jaune nervously laughs as I heard him gulp next to me. "You will be monitored and graded through the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately." Father explained.

"Are there any questions?" He asked the students. Jaune raises his hand. "Yeah, um, sir?" He let out. "Good!" Father exclaimed as he ignored Jaune's hand. "Now, take your positions." He instructed us. I put my sticks on my back as I got ready.

" Uh, sir? I've got, um... a question." Jaune lets out as Father glances over at him. "So, this landing... strategy thing... Uh, wha... what is it? You're, like, dropping us off or something?" Jaune asked. "No. You will be falling." Father plainly answers.

I then heard one of the launch pads go off as one of the students are catapulted into the air. "Oh, uh, I see... so, like, did you hand out parachutes for us?" He asked Father as another student was catapulted into the air. 'How is he not hearing the catapult noises?' I queried inwardly.

"No. You will be using your own "landing strategy." Father answers him. "Uh-huh... yeah." Jaune lets out. "Woo-hoooooooo!" I heard someone cheer as it was Yang. Shortly after, Ruby is launched into the air. It was Jaune's turn next.

"Ummm... Jaune? You probably should -- " "So, what exactly is a landing strateg -- yyy!" He yelped as he was launched into the air. "See you in the auditorium, Y/N." Glynda bid me as I was launched into the air.

I looked back as I saw Father sip out of his mug. I shook my head as I turned back and saw a clearing. 'That should do...' I told myself as I closed my eyes and willed myself to teleport in the middle of the clearing.

THUMP

I appeared in the clearing as I reopened my eyes. My eyes widen as my ears picked up on abnormal growls and snarls. "You have to be joking..." I muttered as I reached for my sticks. I looked around the clearing as beowolves crawl out of the bushes of the forest.

I connected my sticks and gripped onto my staff. "This has to be Ms. Goodwitch's doing..." I muttered as one of them jumped at me.
