It happened the night Yeosang let Hongjoong kiss him for the first time - the very first "I love you".
The words had just sprung from his lips, like a beautiful flower in Spring, but Winter had come sooner than expected. His heart was filled with joy, but only seconds later it would be torn open and bleed out the unrequited love, which had been built up only to go to waste.
Although the look in Yeosang's eyes had changed just slightly, it still wasn't enough for him to reciprocated the words or the feeling.
But Hongjoong didn't give up, and at every chance he got to spend time alone with Yeosang, feeling his wondrous body and gentle touch, and looking into the grey eyes that held his entire world, the love for the younger only grew bigger.
The second "I love you" was even more painful, because it was a desperate attempt to mend the broken soul that was crying in his arms - and it still wasn't enough. And Hongjoong had believed it would be the last time they ever saw each other.
Yeosang's last words to him echoed through his head, as Hongjoong stood frozen in his spot in the middle of the hallway, staring at the boy he thought he had lost for good.
His glitter and gold, was now being smeared across the hands of the devil.
"I never meant to hurt you, but I was too late to realize how I truly felt..."
Words so sincere, so fragile but deep - had it all been another lie? Standing there, looking like a gaping fool, it felt like someone had just punched him in the face. Yeosang's words were now a complete contrast to what Hongjoong had just witnessed. The cold stare, the way Yeosang had let Seonghwa touch him - and how he had pulled the older into his room.
"What's going on? Are you okay?" Joshua asked, nudging Hongjoong's elbow.
"W-who... Was that?" he mumbled back, as in a trance, praying that he might have seen things that weren't even there - mistaken some other pretty boy for being the one he used to love.
"Oh... Well, it's the guy I was telling you about," it then came from Joshua in a bitter tone, and with a roll of his blue eyes. "It's Kang Yeosang."
The confirmation to his worry hit him like a wall, and he silently followed Joshua down the hallway with wild thoughts fighting in his head.
Yeosang had indirectly admitted that he loved him too, right? So, why was he here, in the arms of Seonghwa, who Hongjoong had come to realize was pure evil? Was this just a sick game?
