"What is that?..." Victor says suspiciously.
*God, not infront of Lucith, please.* She thinks as she notices Lucith leaning against the wall watching her coldly.
"This is my familiar." She says. *I'll just have to continue with the plan.* She thinks. Victor's face goes from that of a suspicious parent to one of disbelief. Even Lucith, who is always calm and poker faced has a shocked expression.
"A familiar?! How did you even manage that?!" Victor says loudly, tossing aside his calm demeanor.
"Well I wanted to tell you under better circumstances, but it seems that I've acquired the ability to sense magical energy recently." She says. *If my instincts are correct, then ever since the blood pact my body's learnt how to sense magic. I'm quite certain, but this is still a gamble.* She thinks to herself.
"You? Magic? Please, you probably bought that thing from some shady place." Says Lucith.
*I can't beleive I have to live with this again. I wish he didn't come back from that damn expedition.* She thinks.
"Stop Lucith. There's no need to be rude to your sister. Irillium, what you're saying is very serious. No one in history has ever been able to sense, let alone control magic if they weren't born with the abilities." Says Victor.
Irillium takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. Suddenly the air around her starts to glow a faint blue. *She's not lying. She's even emitting a blue aura.* Yosen thinks.
Victor looks at Irillium blankly for a moment, then a sweet smile spreads across his face. "It's really true! My girl, you're the first person in history to develop magical abilities after birth. You'll be considered a very special person from now on." He says proudly.
"How is this possible..." Says Lucith. Yosen slides out from behind Irillium and perches himself on her shoulder.
*It should be safe for them to see me now. When she said she had a plan, I didn't really believe her. Who would have thought she'd have this up her sleeve, and she even has a pure aura. Although it's weak now, it has a lot of potential. If I can help her get stronger, it would also help me regain my strength.* Yosen thinks.
"As you can see, I'm not lying." Irillium says while glancing victoriously at Lucith. *It's nice to see him shut his mouth for once.* She thinks.
"When did this happen? The last time I saw you was yesterday afternoon. Did it start before then or was it more recent?" Says Victor. Irillium thinks for a moment.
"I woke up this morning and I was feeling strange, that's why I asked Galvin if I could excuse myself. When I got home, I don't know why, but I just had this strong feeling that something in my body had changed. When I tried to focus on what it might be, I realised that I could sense the magical energies around me." She says.
"If it was that sudden then when did you get the time to summon a familiar." Says Lucith.
"That's the strangest part. I went to sleep, and when I woke up, he was next to me. At first I wasn't sure what he was, but then he spoke to me, and I could feel this strong bond connecting us." She says. *Oh god I'm bullshitting so hard right now... Please buy it please buy it.* She thinks, maintaining a calm exterior.
"Do you really expect us to beleive that?" Says Lucith.
"Well it's not unheard of for mages to summon familiars in their sleep. It usually occurs as an accident while they're dreaming." Says Victor.
"Really? I've never heard of this before." Lucith says turning his head.
"Irillium why don't you come to my office so that we can talk about this some m-." Victor gets cut off by the loud knocking on the front door. "Oh dear, I wonder what it is now." He says while walking to the source of the commotion.
Irillium and Lucith follow him with their eyes, watching to see what's happening.
"What is it?" Victor says while opening the door.
"Sir there's an urgent matter that needs your attention! One of the prisoners has escaped from the dungeon!" Says an out of breath gaurd.
"Wait what?!" Victor exclaims.
"The rest of the mages are waiting for you in the meeting room to discuss the incident sir." He says finally calming his breath. Victor's turns around to face Irillium and Lucith.
"I need to go, we'll continue our discussion when I get back." He says while leaving in a hurry. The door slams behind him and an eery silence falls over Irillium and Lucith.
*Ugh, I don't want to stand here with him.* She thinks. "Well I'm going to go rest in my room. Good to see you again..." She says in an insincere tone.
