Evie
Evie felt her phone buzzing in her pocket and as she stared at the messages she only sighed. Her mother had been blowing up her line, in an attempt to have her daughter come back, Evie was surprised she hadn't found her location and stormed her new home yet but nevertheless would count that as a blessing.
[Darla] 9:34 am— Evie i dont understand why you're doing this!
[Darla] 9:35 am — Answer me! I mean it :/
[Darla] 10: 56 am— Fine.
Evie hated ignoring her and the will to do so was lessening but she needed too, because if she didn't she was sure her mother would coerce and guilt trip her into coming back. So she ignored the messages, as she rounded the corner to see Kim behind the register. It had only been day three of working in the diner and Evie had been happy with her progress— she was a quick learner and that trait had proved its worth in this job. Kim and Jackie who'd visited the day before had been impressed by her work ethic and complimented her on the way she'd handled herself.
To say Evie was pleased with herself was an understatement and it showed in her smile. The customers were polite, surprised to see a new face in town, the men who she interacted with flirted but nothing too drastic— their cute attempts to get her number made Evie smile. She hadn't given her digits away, politely refusing them, Evie had nothing against dating, she had the time and the company would be nice but she was holding out for certain biker, lord knows why; she'd only seen him a handful of times but she knew that if Skull asked for her number she wouldn't refuse him.
"Evie can you help me reset table three?" Kim asked.
Evie nodded, walking over to the table and replacing the cutlery and clearing it quickly, taking the plates to the kitchen for washing. Around noon, business always picked up as the chatter in the diner became more prevalent as more people entered. Evie had been on her fifteen minute break before and had just stepped back into the fray before she recognized Kim's voice calling her name.
Evie almost stopped breathing at the sight of the man who was in front of her, Skull sat at the table by the window. His shoulders broad and relaxed as he leaned back in his seat, his jacket cut displaying Skulls logo on the top right hand corner. His jaw was locked and his lips spread in a thin line before his eyes met hers, Evie blushed.
"These are the guys I've been telling you about," Kim began, "This is Cash, my husband, Red, Killer and Skull," she pointed to each man respectively.
Evie finally managed to move her attention away from Skull and towards the other men at the table, Cash, Kim's husband was handsome, his tan complexion reminded Evie of sand on the beach and dark curly hair cut neatly accentuating his face. Red looked thoughtfully at her which made Evie send him a gently smile, the first noticeable thing about him was the scar across his cheek but Evie didn't pay attention to it too much as her eyes ran over to Killer, who was smirking at her, his blonde hair brushed back and his brown eyes twinkling with mischief.
"Hey nice to meet you, I'm Evie," she said, her eyes once again moving towards Skull.
Killer was the first to speak, "Hello sweetheart," he purred.
Evie lifted a brow, oh he was trouble.
"Nice to meet you," Red and Cash said as Red rolled his eyes at Killer.
Evie noticed Skull make a humming sound deep within his throat to acknowledge her before turning his attention back to his menu.
"Well is there anything I can get you all? Drinks?" Evie asked.
