Gil's POV
"What's going on?" Mal said, trying to break down the commotion.
But no matter how hard she tried to give orders, at least two guards gripped each VK by their arms without waiting for further directions. Harry and Hayden were the only people dumb enough to resist the guards who were gripping them.
Literally none of this would have happened if Harry didn't insist on dealing with the situation himself. Uma and Harry would always fend off my family, but at times, it made me look like I don't know how to defend myself. For once, I want to step up to my siblings, not to show my father how worthy I am, but for my own good.
"I'm so sorry for the inconvenience Mal," Queen Leah took a step back from the chaos, "but these V.K.'s are starting trouble before the other guests arrive. We cannot let them disrupt Family Day and ruin the celebration for everyone else who is behaving." She gestured her hand towards her family, who wore blank expressions, confused on how to react.
"Queen Leah, there is probably another side to this." Ben argued, staring at the scene unfold before her.
"Guards, stand down!" A person at Aurora's table shouted.
We all moved our eyes behind Queen Leah to see Audrey standing from her seat, speaking up for us.
That instantly made my heart tie in a knot or two...
"Audrey, you have no power over what the guards do--or, at least you don't anymore since you stopped dating Ben." Queen Leah grimly stated to her granddaughter.
"I know that," Audrey stepped down from her chair and walked towards Mal, "but Mal is my friend. And surely she agrees with my opinion, don't you?" Audrey asked.
"Ummm..." Was the only word that escaped Mal's mouth. Instead of replying to Audrey, she hysterically moved her eyes over the crowd of V.K.'s with guards. After letting several moments slip by, Queen Leah spoke up again.
"There is no reason for those V.K.'s not to be sent back to the Isle. More guests are starting to arrive, and it's time you make a decision." Queen Leah raised her finger to the arch entry, revealing more families are walk in.
They also seem aware of the situation to, which can add up the amount of people already observing the scene.
"Alright," Mal took in a deep breath before continuing, "Audrey, can you please give me a reason for the guards to let go of them? And if you do so, I will absolutley tell the guards to stand down."
Audrey smiled gratefully to the purple haired queen and headed in our direction.
The second I saw her moving our way, I unknowingly, took a step toward. However, I quickly got a reminder to stay still when the guard pulled me back with full force. Since he has my hands behind my back, it made the situation more difficult to break free.
"Hey! Settle down." Audrey yelled, noticing what the guard just did to me.
"Yeah, calm down V.K." The guard holding onto me said with a dark and mocking voice.
"I was talking about you." Audrey crossed her arms at the guard, causing him to loosen his grip on me.
Then, some people in the crowd cleared their throats or made little side conversations, indirectly telling Audrey to move on. And unfortunately, she did so...
"My reason for the V.K.s' to be released is because this is what Family Day is all about." Everyone stood so quietly that a pin drop could be heard. So, with no interruptions, Audrey went further with her reasoning. "Today is suppose to be a day about peace and equality no matter who you are or where you come from. But most importantly, it's about spending time with your family." Audrey turned to make eye contact with Mal.
