Harry's POV
"Uma, I'm so sorry." I sadly bowed my head down.
And just as predicted, Uma didn't give a response. She didn't move or gesture towards me in any way. Only her eyes had the strength to look me in the face.
"Here I will carry you--" Hayden suggested.
"No, I will!" I demanded, already wrapping my arm around her waist.
Then unexpectedly, Uma pushed my arm off her body and announced, "Actually, I don't need either of your help. Gil, do you mind?" Uma basically commanded, leaving Gil with no choice but to carry her.
"Sure, I'm not doing much besides." Gil said sarcastically, annoyed by the negative energy we're rubbing off on him. But I can't blame my mate. This whole morning has been nothing but nonstop drama.
I pushed away these thoughts the closer we got to the Family Day grounds. There's definitely more people than there previously was.
When we got to me and Uma's table, Gil gently placed her down in a chair, not showing a drop of sweat.
"I don't know about you guys, but I'm gonna go grab a snack or something." Gil stated, heading for the buffet table.
Hayden, Uma, and I were left with an awkward moment of silence. There was no way of escaping the deep pit we burrowed throughout the last few hours. Just the thought of shrugging these feelings and pretending it's fine makes me want to push further into my mood.
"Can I have eh word with you, Cap'n?" I asked quietly.
Uma slowly turned to me and slightly shook her head. It's like I could sense how alone she feels, especially since I abandoned her after the run-in with Ursula. And out of all the people in the world, Hayden had to be the person who saw her in this terrible condition. Literally, I don't know how long it'll be till Uma gets better.
And unfortunately, it didn't take long for attention to be drawn to her.
"Are you all right ma'am?" A young lady with a blue dress came up to Uma.
But as always, Uma didn't want to deal with questions, so she snapped, "I mean, I'm still alive. So yes, I am fine."
The young lady gave her a disgusted expression and walked away.
So, Hayden cleared his throat. "Yeah, maybe Uma needs some time to herself." He sat in a seat next to my captain in a matter of seconds.
"That means you leave too." Uma demanded, shifting her head to the side and adjusting her mask. Probably so she can avoid getting anyone else's attention with the bruises on her face.
"Fine, but if you need anything--" Hayden stood up and continued.
"Just go." She instructed.
"I'm going, I'm going." Hayden innocent put his hands in the air, walking to his table.
"I'll see ye later, love." I kindly told Uma, but she ignored me.
Leaving no time to waste, I quickly followed Hayden.
"Did ye think I was done with you?" I called out, staring at the back of Hayden's head. This caught him off guard, so he turned around.
"What is it mate?" Hayden replied with no emotion.
"First of all, I ain't yer mate." I got in front of his face, "Second, you should confess about smearing that liquid on Uma."
"I did not!" Hayden didn't make eye contact.
