"when he answered the phone ... he said 'hello nong sao'"
Mew was disturbed.
"Was he talking to my sister?"
"does he refer to your sister as such?" Gulf asked.
"I don't think they've met," Mew looked worried.
"maybe I heard wrong p' please stop worrying you just came back from the hospital today."
Mew knew Mild would tell him if he had found his relative. He trusted Mild would not hide such amazing news from him.
They spent most of the night catching up.
"what about your fiancé, she looks familiar when and where did you meet her?" Mew asked.
"ex-fiancé" Gulf corrected "p' also think she is familiar?"
"yeah when I saw her that day, she reminded me of someone but I can't remember who."
"it's funny how you feel that way because I also felt the same when we met."
Gulf went on to explain how they had met at a conference and they found each other familiar but it was their first-time meeting.
Gulf slept first because he hadn't been having any sleep in the hospital. He wanted to talk some more but sleep overpowered him.
Mew's first public appearance was him paying his father's graveyard a visit. After that he had to do a press conference because the nation was worried. He had managed to get the public compassion and people wanted to hear that he was doing ok. He was the new CEO of J-Limited Co, a company holding the nation together.
On the day Mew was supposed to visit the graveyard, Mild excused himself, he had something else planned for the day so he couldn't go with Mew. Mew had an argument with Gulf the same morning.
"I have to go and see my parents p'"
"we'll go together after this."
"no p' I'll go alone and come back before you return, I have to talk to Eyie too."
Mew didn't want to be apart from Gulf. Gulf had been warned about this. This side to Mew was what he had to get used to.
"no" Mew was firm,
"I'm coming back. I promise"
"If Mild is not here then you have to be there with me. I can't do this alone I need atleast one person by my side."
"I know you can do it."
Mew took his phone from his pocket and dialled Mild's number.
"Mild can you.."
Gulf grabbed the phone from Mew and ended the call.
"Give it back please." A displeased Mew said sticking out his hand.
"p"
"if you're not going to be there, I'll call someone who I know will be there for me."
"Dr Suppasit,"
Mew was surprised by Gulf calling him that.
"you're more than capable of doing this alone."
"no I d-"
"-that alone shows how capable and strong-willed you are. Despite being in an unfamiliar environment you made it that far. By yourself."
"because Mild was there,"
"because you are determined," Gulf challenged
"Because-
-because you're resilient, because you're much more than that"
Mew resigned to sit down on the chair. He pulled Gulf and made him sit on his lap. He hugged his tummy and laid his head on Gulf's back.
"p" Gulf called out quietly.
"mhm"
"Just now you made me feel like I am p'Mild's replacement."
"I'm sorry I made you feel that way"
Gulf sulked.
"I'm sorry Nong."
Gulf continued to sulk.
"what do you want me to do?"
Gulf turned around and faced Mew still on his lap.
"show me how sorry you are."
"how?"
"I want you to go with your family to the graveyard. No Mild No me"
Mew whined.
Gulf stood up walking towards the door.
"ok ok"
Gulf stopped and smirked.
Manipulation?
Well two can play that game.
He thought.
He remembered the day of Mew's discharge. The doctor had called him to have a chat.
"you'll have to be careful Mr Kanawut. The history I have heard of Dr Suppasit is too deep to ignore. Although he received therapy in the past, my guess is he still is an OLD patient. This time its going to be much worse than the last time you were together. Just as Mr Suttinut highlighted. You must be firm. A typical OLD patient manipulates people easily, they get away with a lot of things, most of the things go their way so be careful of that happening which will happen often. Be alert."
Gulf remembered how Mew got away with so many things when they were sixteen. He had seen the signs just now. Mew tried to manipulate him by bringing in Mild into this but he was glad to say he won this time.
Mew was sitting on the chair tensely looking at Gulf's back, eyes calculating. Like he was reading Gulf's mind.
Gulf went to his apartment for the first time after the wedding. He was dreading it. Facing Eyie was going to be frustrating. He knew it. Eyie was one of the most difficult people to converse with.
As he was on the way, he wondered how she had gone to the hospital. How had she known where to find him? How had she gotten past all the security and whatnot to get to the VIP section. That was troubling. He remembered the hustle he went through getting in the hospital when Mew fainted.
He had been thrown out by security not only once. They were unforgiving. He had waited for a few minutes and another ambulance pulled up in front of the hospital. He had pushed a stroller together with the paramedics who had exited an ambulance. That's how he had gone in.
After the incident, security had strengthened even more. There was a VVIP in the floor and it would have been difficult unless someone familiar to the security was with her. He was troubled.
Another thing, she had been quarrelling with someone behind the door before she burst into the room. He was still wondering who came in with Eyie that day when the elevator dinged. He looked up and saw it was his floor.
The elevator opened.
Something bizarre was at the other side of the elevator.
Gulf looked at Eyie and her guest, standing there with smiles on their faces.
