Gulf just looked at the two. The guest didn't go in the elevator. He rubbed the hair at the back of his head and thought maybe he should've used the stairs.
The elevator started closing. Gulf held it open and stepped outside.
"What's going on here?" He looked at Eyie and asked "What is he doing here?"
"Do you even have the right to ask?" Eyie dismissed him.
"Ok then."
Gulf stepped aside and headed to his apartment. He looked back at the two and went away.
It was strange and he didn't know what to think.
Meanwhile, Mew was there at the burial site of his father; Mild had been right. He couldn't go anywhere without reporters swarming after him. He was with his sister and his mother. They offered their respect and left the gravesite. Mew was happy he had done this without messing it up. He was happy that Gulf had believed in him.
Gulf had just finished talking to his parents on the phone when Eyie came in.
He sat down assuming they were about to have a conversation but Eyie went to the kitchen and started cooking.
"why was he here?" He followed her to the kitchen.
She didn't respond.
"how do you know him?" Gulf asked another question
"he just came to discuss the issue with the venue okay. Let it rest."
"what about the venue?"
Eyie went quiet again. She was not in the mood to talk. The fact that Gulf was not asking for forgiveness about the embarrassment he put her through ticked her off. She was about to leave the kitchen when Gulf said,
"Uhm are we not supposed to have a talk?"
"About?" She stopped hand on her waist,
"Everything, Us, what happened, the way forward." Gulf struggled.
"What happened to us?" she asked plainly.
"Eyie..."
She came back in and looked at Gulf. Her face innocent as if she didn't know what Gulf was talking about.
"I'm going to meet my parents and then yours to tell them we are not getting married" Gulf said quietly.
Eyie let out a laugh.
"Who said we are not getting married?"
"We were supposed to have gotten married, but I left you alone." Gulf explained.
"So what?"
"Aren't you going to ask me why I left? Why don't you look sad or mad?"
Eyie smiled.
"Honey, we are rescheduling the wedding date."
"No we are not." Gulf replied with conviction.
"Oh yes we are." Eyie countered.
"We are breaking up. I'm going to talk to my parents and then yours. I'm telling them we are breaking up."
Eyie smiled. It creeped Gulf out.
"If you need a break that's ok. Take all the time you need but our wedding is going to take place in 2 months as we had originally planned."
Eyie was crazy.
"You can't force me to marry you Eyie." Gulf was distraught.
"why? Because of him?"
Gulf was taken aback but nodded.
"He is one of the reason why I can't. I love him Eyie. I've been in love with him since I was sixteen years old. That's why I can't do this with you."
"What about me?"
"What about you?" Gulf returned the question.
"The five years I've been with you."
"Eyie."
"Give me back my 5 years."
"Eyie," Gulf shook his head in disbelief. She was being difficult.
"Until then let's start planning for our wedding." She said as she headed for the door, she paused and looked back, the door open,"This time together as you've always wanted" she smiled and left.
Gulf held his face. This was not it. He stood there pondering what just happened. His throat felt dry. He needed some water.
As he went to get water, a phone dinged loudly indicating a text message.
Mew was looking for him. He assumed in his head.
He took out his phone and took a glance. He saw no new message notification.
The phone dinged again.
He looked around the room.
Eyie had left her phone behind the bowl of fruit on the kitchen island again.
He didn't want to get it. He knew she was going to come back for it. It was a common habit. He continued to drink his water and it dinged for the third time.
Now he was tempted.
He went and took the phone. On the screen were text messages displayed. Texts from a Private number,
Is everything ok?
Call me as soon as you can.
Puifai answer me!
Gulf gasped holding his mouth.
