"Hey Buck! Come here!" Wanda calls, trying to calm down the giggling child next to her. Bucky walks in and is instantly confused when he sees the pair laughing on the couch.

"Yeah?" He asks, standing in the doorway confused. Morgan smiles at him before answering.

"Can we play with your hair?"

"Why don't you play with Wanda's hair?"

"Cause we both wanna play with hair"

"Fine, but nothing permanent." He sighs, walking over to the couch and sitting down in front of it, Morgan giggling excitedly. Morgan and Wanda instantly begin taking sections of his hair. A few ponytails here, replaced by one big scrunchie holding them together. Some hair chalk here, more butterfly clips there. "Satisfied?" He asks, standing up and walking to the mirror to see his head looking like a mess. Morgan laughs and walks over to him.

"You look beautiful." She giggles, grabbing his hand and pulling him back over so they can take everything out. Once every clip and ponytail is taken out, and the hair chalk exists only in the sink, Bucky walks back to his room and lounges.

A knock at the door pulls Bucky from his bed, slowly making the trek to the door before opening it, seeing Bruce standing at the other side.

"Hey, could you come with me for a second?" The doctor asks, nodding his head towards the elevator. Bucky nods and follows him, the two stepping into the elevator and eventually stopping at the main common room. They walk out of the elevator, and Bucky's stomach immediately drops. In the middle of the room is a circle of chairs, every chair filled with an avenger except for two. Bucky looks to turn around, but Bruce is standing in the way with a sincere look on his face. The soldier's breathing begins to pick up as he looks at all of the remaining exits, each one blocked or sealed. Bruce steps closer and places his hand on Bucky's shoulder causing him to flinch.

"Buck, it's the only way we knew that we could keep you in the room." Tony admits, the rest of the Avengers nodding in agreement while Bruce coaxes Bucky to sit down. The soldier sits hesitantly and his leg begins to bounce, anxiety still bubbling in his stomach.

"Who would like to explain why I am trapped in a room with all of you?" Bucky whispers, looking around at them. Tony sighs before answering.

"We are going to go around and say what we like about you. You are going to sit here and listen because we love you and even though Steve is gone, you still have a life to live. You are part of our fucked-up little family and it's going to stay that way."

And that's just what they did. Starting with Bruce, the Avengers went all the way around the circle, explaining how much Bucky is loved. Yes, he was uncomfortable, but he dealt with it and listened. By the end, most of them were crying and Bucky was close to sobbing. What they didn't expect was one last voice coming from over by the elevator.

"He lets me play with his hair and he lets me paint on his arm. He's patient with me when I'm being mean. Uncle Bucky loves me, so I love him back." Morgan states, her small voice echoing through the room. Bucky scoots his chair halfway around and Morgan runs up to him, jumping in his lap and hugging him. Bucky starts crying more and she looks up at him.

"Love you Uncle Bucky."

"Love you too Peanut."

Bucky walks back to his room and walks into the bathroom. Staring into the mirror, he takes off his shirt and looks at his arm. The inflamed tissue surrounding it, the burn marks from where they had sealed it on, the deep red lines from the days he sat and tried to scratch the arm off of himself, only hurting himself more. Bucky looks at the rest of his torso, staring at the dark maroon lines covering his chest and arm. He sighs before walking into the shower, turning on the water and just sitting down. Bucky starts to think of everything he'll miss, and the tears stream down his face as the water starts to run cold. He continues thinking about what he'll miss and what he'll never see again.

He'll never see Steve again

He'll never hear that laugh again

He'll never see that smile that can light up a room

He'll never spend another birthday with him

He'll never have another kiss on New Year's

He'll never get married

He'll never be able to get his own house with Steve

He'll never have kids of his own with Steve

He'll never watch his kids grow up

He'll never get to grow old

He'll never have someone to cuddle with again

He'll never have someone to hold him after a nightmare

He'll never have the same person to calm him down from a panic attack

He'll never have someone to kiss his scars after he has an episode

He'll never be able to bicker with Steve after a mission

He'll never get to stay up late writing another mission report with him

He'll never be able to die in his arms

He'll never be able to live again
